Funnily enough, I like that bit. So optimistic! I get more and more disillusioned as things wear on and I find that I really should have done that tedious tension square before I launched into things, or that I haven't kept count of the rows properly, or that the garment isn't quite what I had in mind anyway.
Hi, I love knitting/crocheting but it doesn't love me very much:o I knitted a couple of cardi's for my son when he was a baby and another when he was about 3. I was so surpised a few years ago to discover he has kept it - he's coming 21 now! The best thing I've made is a zig-zag blanket which gets used a cover for a settee and the bed if needed in the winter. You've made me think about getting the needles out again this winter, and will maybe do some blankets for charity. Would love to find a nice pattern for a bed-jacket although it hasn't been needed for the past few years or near future, ladies you will know why!! Thanks for this thread.
That is beautiful Scotkat! I admit I start several things at once I love browsing knitting sites too!
Thankyou Jasmine and had it on today as it was so cold and wet very heavy rain . Went to my knitting group in our wool shop this afternoon ,half back knitted of new sweater. Got yarn for half price better still
Just curious: what do you do in the knitting group...is it like a lesson, or a coffee afternoon where if you want to knit you do that, or just intensive knitting... I have often been thinking of joining one, but i think that I would be too embarassed to knit in front of somebody...
Its great fun at our knitting group called knit and natter and plenty laughing . And we can help each other if we get stuck. I was recently in North Carolina and came a cross a wonderful yarn shop called Downtown knits ,when I popped into their shop yes they too had thier knitting group going I felt like joining them on their sofa. Thats how welcome they made you.
I like to knit and crochet but only small project. Just started a scarf in the new galaxy wool that is just out with tiny sequins. I put some of my makes here on my blog: Chunterings......: Knitting and Crochet Knitted clothes are back in now - and might have a go at something bigger!
I used to go to a group called "Stitch & Bitch" only attended once as there wasn't enough of the Stitch part going on! Out of interest is anyone planning a visit to the NEC hobbycraft event in Nov? I've just booked up to go, went a couple years ago was great so much to see and do there.
That made me laugh greencuisinequeen Stitch and Bitch , hadn't heard about the NEC event, went to one a few years ago at Doncaster Racecourse when I used to do a lot of cross stitching, don't do so much now need the magnifying glass and bi focals to see the stitches :D, do a lot of cardmaking now just starting my christmas cards!!!, youngest daughter bought me a cuttlebug for christmas last year and the possibilites are endless, used to love knitting and crochet too when the kids were little, now they're older home knits aren't so cool
I would love being able to knit gloves, but it does not seem to be the easiest of project. Also because if you look at the position of the thumb finger, it is not at the same level as the others which makes it a bit of a complication. Anyway, I will try one day when I feel adventurous... I found this for you in the meantime http://www.ehow.com/how_5120983_knit-wool-gloves.html
