    AGING GRACEFULLY

    Im past me sell-by date, I know;
    Me steps dont spring,
    ââ?¬Ë?n me cheeks donââ?¬â?¢t glow,
and I have noticed every day
me toes are getting farther away
when I bend to touch ââ?¬Ë?em.

But I can choose the clothes I wear
    from market stalls
    and who would care?
Me navel piercing looks its best
    beneath me lovely thermal vest
    when chill winds blow.

Me stockings and me lacy garters
no longer grace me lower quarters,
But rest in drawers in bright arrays.
    reminders of me past heydays
    as a dolly bird.

Me hot pants and me knee-high boots
peroxide hair with its darker roots,
are now remembered with deep affection
along with me favourite Abba collection
    in stereo on 45s.

Still in me heart there burns a fire
of girlish glee and sweet desire,
and love of life at any stage,
    increased with every turning page
    of me five year diary.

T'other half and I were up on deck this evening talking about our not-so-pleasant events of the weekend and he said ... life is a tapestry ...

I wrote poetry in my late teens onwards for a few years and here is one I wrote in my late teens ...

    THE JOURNEY OF LIFE

The journey of life is like a tapestry,
It weaves in and out haphazardly.
The path is winding, the road is long,
Balanced on pillars not very strong.
Step after step one travels with care,
No one treads heavy ... for no one dare.
Beauty and love mingle all about ...
To taste the sweetness one must reach out.
It takes patience and courage for all to succeed.
Forget all the hatred, the sorrow, the greed.
Help one another, show them the way ...
A rainbow waits at the end of the day.
So take to the road with the turmoil and strife ...
And reach out for all the good things in life.

    The Seasons of Life

    Spring means life is given.
    Summer a joy every day.
    Autumn means time is passing.
Winter ... life is taken away.
