We had a terrific storm today, rain and hail both at the same time. Water came in through the back (kitchen) door and wetted the carpet tiles (drain outside was blocked). The ditch was running slightly but a couple of hours later completely dry again. The first rain we've had for weeks.

Still nothing :(. They forecast heavy rain for us yesterday and we got 90 seconds of light rain :skp:. Now they are forecasting sun for the next 10 days.

One of my daughters lives in Rochester - when she got home neighbours couldn't wait to tell her 'it rained today' , further questioning revealed as you say, a 'few drops', but a sufficiently infrequent occurrence for it to become a conversation topic! :hehe:

It's supposed to be raining here today - the usual forecast of patchy showers. Nothing yet...but I bet it waits until I leave work and get on the motorbike to ride home...

Well I think its great, I love brown grass because it means we are actually having a "summer":gnthb:.

Strange thing, at 7pm I thought its getting a bit chilly so closed all the doors and a few of the widows, before starting up my PC.

Just stepped out a few minutes later and noticed it was 22C, I think we're getting used to it.:)

I know, it's great isn't it? And the grass will recover - it did four years ago when we had the last 'drought'

I'm just waiting for all the horror stories about subsidence to start appearing on the news. After all, this is Britain. We can't enjoy ourselves too much or heaven knows what might happen.

On the upside - since the grass hasn't grown, I haven't had to go near the dreaded lawn mower for weeks.

Nice one Shiney, couldn't get daughter #2 to stop watching it, she wants a pet tumbleweed now.

Down me sisters veg plot at West Bay at the moment, dry as an egyptian mummy's chough down here too. Parsnips are huge, as are pink fir apple spuds, blubbing fennel is starting to blub up & beetroot is not doing bad, few beans & pumpkins coming on.

Some sort of squash i've planted in the greenhouse is doing good, havn't the foggiest what it is though :dh:

Appologies to Blueroses & Alice, to knackered to walk the mile down to the sea to catch that bass. Will try next week & then post a virtual fillet.:hehe:
