The process for increasing post counts does not have any logic other than to add 1 to the number on every submission of a post. From what I have seen, that is exactly what it is doing.

 

There is a tool that actually counts the exact number of posts that people have made but it can reduce people posts as well as increase them If this remains a problem it could be used to actually count them.

Keep an eye on it and we can sort it.

To explain the time side of things.... unix based systems work out a time based on the number of elapsed seconds since the 1st jan 1970. All times are calculated on that basis. Because the user details were imported from UBB there was no information in the login history database table on when people logged in last. Therefore this was showing 0. ie Zero seconds since 1st Jan 1970

Simply put... no :D

The system simply adds 1 to a field in the user database table that holds the total posts. If the post is added then 1 is added to this field. I cant see how it would do it sometimes and not others. Having said that, computers are weird things sometimes :D


Notification by email is a facility that you switch on within your control panel. Personally I always switch them off as I get enough emails as it is but if you want them you should go into User Cp and into Options - you should see it in there iirc.

You will see that Bobj makes three posts and yet his count stays at 528
YoungDaisyDee makes 3 posts and her count stays at 1953
This computer can't count :D:D:D

 

I had already gone into my CP to set this and had requested instant email notification on subscribed threads and PMs.

Strange thing was that it worked for about 24hrs post switch over but just stopped for no apparent reason despite the settings remaining the same!?

Have just gone into my user CP again to double check that the settings are to allow email but still nowt happening.

Is it my email at fault? although non - GC emails are coming through ok.
