I've been reading up in one of my new photography books which has a subject matter that taking pictures into light can be quiet effective... so I had a go.....

      P1030058.JPG

This photo seemed to be the best out of the bunch so I've checked the properties and the camera was set on F/4 with an exposure of 1/125 , I also used a polaroid filter on a 45mm x 175mm lens

The question I have, is could I have set the camera up differently so that the light from the sun was softer?

Lovely photo @Apple Blossom my friend the only way is to experiment on different settings, please try this and let woo know how you get on,of course it depends on a lot of factors:smile:

Focal length: 12mm | Aperture: f/6.3 | Shutter Speed: 1/50sec | ISO: 200,not sure if you have a lens that will go to 12mm

Hi @Apple Blossom . You need to be very careful when shooting into the sun. You can easily damage your eyesight, and possibly your camera. I know you said you have been reading up in your book, but just be careful.
I was trying to catch a red kite last weekend, and accidentally caught the sun as I was following it.
I have found this article online which may be of interest.

Hi NG, thank you for sending the link...a very interesting read.... on page one of this thread there are two photo's of the sunset over the sea... I took these in Llandudno and the sun, even though setting was that strong I actually put my sunglasses over the lens which gave the pictures their warming feeling.

I do use my LCD screen but to be honest not all the time... having read this I will probably use it more often now :dbgrtmb:

A little story about the money tree on the horizon

                    P1030593.JPG

Yesterday I was out and about playing around with my new lenses... and I saw this tree sitting in the horizon.. so I had a play around with settings etc etc and wasn't really a happy with the outcome.

So as Tess and I walked nearer and nearer to the tree I thought I wonder if a photo from the other direction would be better....

As I got nearer, I saw something on the ground and curiosity got the better of me..

I found a wallet... I took a good look around and other than people walking their dogs in the distance there was no one around.

Should I look inside... yes... there may be details inside....

Credit card, bankers card, AA card, photograph of a very lovely lady and children, a fair amount of money... so I searched on and found a little piece of paper 'my phone number'.

I called the number and no one answered, I tried again and no signal, and again and again.

I took it home with me and asked Mr AB should I give it to the nearest police station or keep trying the number to which he said... keep trying the number and if you don't get a response then take it to the police station...

This morning I tried again and a gentleman answered the phone..... I told him I had his wallet and where I had found it and that it was safe..... oh the relief in his voice.

I met up with him this evening, as I was in work, he was such a lovely older gentleman and he was so relieved, he told me he had tried to go back through his tracks all day to find his wallet and his poor little dog seemed older than him...:)

He tried to reward me... but I told him that one day I might find a similar tree that money will grow on for me and he had a good chuckle.... The picture was of his wife who had departed and his children all lived away so his wallet was also his little memory bank... I said to him it was very lucky I found his phone number in there... and his response was my memory isn't as good as it use to be....... so I keep it in there as I keep forgetting it when people ask me for it....

                    How lovely was that! :)

A lovely story @Apple Blossom :). I once found a ladies purse, and looked inside for an address, and found one. There were also a load of male escort cards :ouch1:.
I returned the purse, but she was out, so I gave it to her mum.

Hi Sheal thank you for asking. He is stable at the moment and considering since early part of December we have been told after MR scans, tests and a camera into his lung everything is inconclusive... It's now been confirmed as though we already knew that he has a tumer so we are just waiting to see now what the surgeon has to say. I don't think they will do anything for him but look to keep him comfortable.

Thank you @Sheal.... they are now looking to get him home and will arrange help, oxygen etc. etc. We have found out from the Surgeon, that when he first was rushed into hospital, and he had fluid on the lung, the other hospital has caused him more harm by totally draining his lung and not putting talc in.. and as they allowed it to collapse it has stuck together and now cannot be put right.

I think now... time will be valuable..... Dad still has his sense of humour and we will all look forward to 'tomorrow' for another day with him :)
