Well if you've git the same weather forecast as us up here you should be ok. We're supposed to be having temps in the low to mid 20s and there's no rain for the next week or so.

I can't promise owt ( so if you can get seeds or plants elsewhere please do ) because mine has gone a bit woody but I'll try and strike some cuttings later on.

All the outstanding jobs on the pond have finally been finished today.. :hapydancsmil:

The edges have been finished off with slate rocks and looks so much better... I've left small gaps so that I can add plants when there is a better selection, I'm thinking to add them now with the winter coming isn't the wisest move.... :noidea:

        P1020875.JPG

I managed to get a couple of large well established plants for £10 due to it being the end of the season so was well impressed and they are on floating baskets so I can move them around :)

I couldn't help myself with this little fellow, he just seemed to jump into my trolley :heehee:

        P1020874.JPG

I'm so pleased on how well its come together...

        P1020863.JPG

        :dancy::dancy:And I have fish :hapfeet::yahoo:

        P1020869.JPG

I have added some oxygenating plants, 2 large lilies one pink one white.... can't remember the names but kept the details, re-potted the smaller ones and the fish seem quiet happy and so am I :)

Morning @Anthony Rogers ahhhh thank you..... even Mr AB has warmed to it, it took a little bit longer than I had planned ... being away on holiday and then the accident with my eye set it back!!!!

Over the winter months I will be looking at plants that I can introduce in spring as I have left little gaps between the rocks so that I can get some colour around the edges and hopefully trailing over the rocks :hapydancsmil:

Just hoping now that the winter isn't too harsh :snows: and that we don't have any great freezes as I've already decided that if we do..... the fish can always live in the bath for a while :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Ahh Thank you @WeeTam, As mentioned in my earlier post I will be doing some studying over the winter and hopefully have a list of suitable plants which I may ask your advice about if that would be ok?:)

A very tranquil setting just what the frogs ordered, I could easily drop of to sleep round a pond like that.
I had a raised bed pond I made special to keep my long nose sturgeon, it swam quite happily with the other fish until it jumped behind the filter and hid.
Pond is no more all the fish were given away and we moved house, my
Daughter lives there now and with small children it had to go, I could build a large pond here but that's down the list of to be done

:lunapic 130165696578242 5: That's exactly what Mr AB did, he sat down with a glass of wine and within 2 mins he was :snooze:.

I bet your raised pond was really good, I saw long nose sturgeons at Romsey water world and was going to get one until they told me how big it would grow :heehee:

I agree, ponds and children don't go together unless they are fenced off, its a shame the pond is down on your list of things to be done.... if you get the pond first you have somewhere to sit and relax.... but then if its anything like me at the moment the tea break seems to have been extended :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

It's work in progress as 3 months after we moved in we found a small pond 8ft from the back door, it was under a host of overgrown brambles

The pond was purpose built for the sturgeon as it goes round the edge with its nose up looking for slugs etc, had a set of blocks to stop it doing it on the outside wall as I found it twice on the path.

When I was told how big they grow I was shocked and didn't want to give Mr AB the chance of going fishing in 'MY' pond :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

They only grow to the size of the pond mine was 2ft long and stayed on the bottom during the day, yes I was apprehensive when I saw them that size I bought mine as a 4" tiddler.

Wow that was a good size fish and from just little 4" tiddler.

I had to take one of my fish back today a comet as it was swimming on its side... I was so upset as this was a very large fish and my favourite. In fairness they gave me replacement fish... much smaller and told me that they would treat her with salt and if I still wanted her to come back in a weeks time and she should be ok :)
