To look out of your bedroom window at 6am and saying there's a black slug on the path, then realising its your sturgeon, what a surprise it must have been for the fish as well.

Well on return to the water it lay on its side and floated for a while well a day or so, it also had burnt its skin on its nose in the sun so how to treat.

Well a cream for its nose and patience till it had recovered, the floating on side took about 3 days but the burnt skin which had green algae on it took about 3 months.

Whist gardening today, the fish came up for a feed..... so hungry ... I gave them a little feed and removed the remaining.

The pump etc. has done well over the winter months and the water is still crystal clear. I think I need to give it a clean so will have to read the instructions as I've forgotten how to do it

I tidied up the floating iris and grasses to find a load of frog/toad sporn..... and when I say a load I think every frog/toad in the area has been in the pond :yikes:

I had a little visit to the garden centre but, I struggled a little with the rockery plants and think I may take a visit to Romsey Water World to see what they have on offer. I need to find my 'Fuchsia' @Anthony Rogers so that I can get it established this year, when do you think it will be advisable to introduce it?:spinning:

Whilst at the garden centre I purchased

              Bleeding Hearts
              Tiger Flowers Mixed
              Cornlilies Mixed
              Echinacea Magnus for the Bee's
              Iris Night Edition
              Peony Celebrity
              Echinops Ritro for the Bee's
              Astilbe Arendsii Erika
              Chocolate Cosmos
              Crocosmaia Masonorum and George Davison
              Spider Lilies Hymenocallis festalis
              Canna Indica Cleopatra
              Kniphofia Tritoma Red Hot Pokers

All ready to sort another area out.... which I'm hoping weather permitting tomorrow I can get cracking on...... The weather man said it was going to be cold but sunny.... but then who ever believes a weather man:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Someone's going to be busy, Apple Blossom. He he. A lovely mix of plants. Will look forward to the pics. It's that time of year when we can see our vision on the not too distant horizons. The planning coming to life and time outside planting. Enjoy and I can't wait to see results.

                  Hi Apple Blossom :)

What a list....... Hope you've got your second mortgage sorted out :roflol:

Just a couple of pointers for you sweetheart, the Chocolate Cosmos and Hymenocallis aren't fully hardy so need to be potted up and kept frost free ( probably during May for you ) before being planted out. They'll also need to be stored during the Winter.
I'm not sure about the Canna as I don't grow them, someone like @longk should be able to advise you better on that.

Have you got a " The Range " shop near you? They have a good selection if alpines/rockery plants at the moment at 99p each, both Spring and Summer flowering.

The Fuchsia is a F. Procumbens isn't it ? You should be able to get that from ClayLane Fuchsias ( their phone number's in the Fuchsia Thread ). ( I may be able to take a cutting off mine for you later on but it's still dormant at the moment ).

If bought from a GC then they're almost certainly virused. Google Canna virus and at the first signs bin them. Sorry.

More bad news - most Hymenocallis bulbs sold in GC's are a year or two away from flowering size. Grow on in a 3 litre pot per bulb watering and feeding well whilst in growth.

Luckily, I've just posted on my tread and noticed that I haven't recieved the posts from  @Anthony Rogers and @longk

Thank you both for the information, :)firstly @longk I haven't as yet done anything with the Canna and not sure now if I should just bin it!! I have enough problems without adding to them :)

I will plant the hymenocallis as you have suggested ... Thank you :love30:

@Anthony Rogers no range shop near here that I know about but will later investigate thank you:)

Ohhhh your a star thank you for the fuchsia info I'm in the garden at mo and will check it out later :)

It's your call. It is most likely, not guaranteed. If you have no other Canna grow them on and bin them if they show any signs. If you have a variegated/stripy variety or the maroon leafed form it will be harder to tell.

                      https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=c...ved=0ahUKEwjIyPCssO3LAhXBLg8KHSTIBawQ_AUIBigB

Worth the effort. Repot them next year in a large pot very close together.
