Signed and passed on. :) The EU makes me so angry, I was against it and we should never have joined. How many people in GREAT Britain are now regretting giving there support to it! :th scifD36:

With you Sheal. I voted against ever going into the EU in the 1st place and hoping we will depart from it sooner rather than later. Mind you I'm Scottish so god knows what's in store for us lot if there are enough "brave hearts" who vote yes to Independance.

            Signed the petition.
Can't we just ignore them and carry on doing what we want? The bonus is that untested seed would be free - if you could get hold of it.

Not in the EU, no untested pesticides or herbicides. Seeing as the test is very expensive, old remedies won't get tested so will remain illegal to use, although our government says its highly unlikely anyone will be prosecuted.

Don't know what Spain's stance on it is though.

              That's the big if.

If its illegal to sell it, you won't be able to.

So, if that is the case you have to ask yourself what mindless individual actually came up with the idea, who they are, where they come from and what agenda they are working from.
In short, who is taking the backhander?
And do we really want to be part of such a thing?

Having sat through the video broadcasts of quite a few EU committees the last few months, logic doesn't come into any of it.The main committee that will vote on this will have no knowledge of the subject what so ever and will spend weeks having meetings with one side then the other now the likes of Defra might have a lot of knowledge on the subject but you can guarantee the people with the most to gain will have the most money and able to pay professional speakers with facts and figures to back their argument and pay for the best lobbyists.Common sense went out the window with the common market :wallbanging:

They could always sell brown envelopes and just happen to include some free seeds?

I had a local shopkeeper like that years ago - at times when he wasn't legally allowed to sell alcohol because of trading restrictions, he would sell me a brown paper bag for £8 and then give me free beer for being a loyal customer ;)

I don't see how you can prevent gardeners and small farmers saving seed from a previous crop and using it themselves or passing it on for free for for money under the counter. This is how things have been grown from the beginnings of agriculture, I don't see how it can be stopped. You might as well try and put a stop on dandelions chucking untested seed about.

I can see how it would put a stop to the full and free obtainability of the wonderful variety of plants from around the globe that we can have now at the click of a mouse.

What makes me really, really angry is that I have not heard of any good, practical reason why these restrictions should be put in place, there will be no benefit and somebody, somewhere stands to make a good deal of money from it.

Why isn't Joe Public given the right to voice an opinion or vote against all these "underhand" laws being brought about?
Don't our views count? We are gardeners and growers too!!

Because that would require that we live in a democracy.
