Bureaucratic idiots with nothing better to do with their time. Clearly a quiet day in the office. The EU don't even have any power.. try as they might, they won't be able to stop anything... just as one of the worlds biggest super powers of the time couldn't stop alcohol being served and brewed despite prohibition laws.

EU is weak.. I'm not worried, they haven't got a chance if nearly every influential country is standing up to it as well.

They stopped greengrocers from selling bendy banananas for a good few years, and a market trader from using the imperial weight measurements his customers preferred. They've stopped our government from expelling a convicted terrorist and hate preacher, and they've so far scuppered our government's plans to revamp the benefits system to reduce the incentive for 'benefits tourism'.

I'm afraid the EU does have power I'm afraid. We gave it to them nearly 20 years ago when elected the man to power that signed our country over without a fight.

I meant more along the lines of they wouldn't stop certain people from getting it anyway.. no policy maker has the power to stop underground trading :blue thumb:

Your last statement hits the nail on the head and is the reason most of these decisions are made, the people with the money can shout louder and intend to make more money and are not really bothered how they do it.

Things like this make me seriously think about voting for UKIP.

          It's OK Lorea,
you just happen to be a wild life enthusiast and you're worried that slugs and snails won't be able to get enough to drink. So you put some out for them. :blue thumb:

You need to put it in a semi-covered container because you don't want the cats and dogs to drink it before the slugs get to it.

I applaud you for your good deeds! ;)

I'm sure you also wash your plants with washing up liquid because you want to keep them clean as you're a very conscientious gardener. "Cleanliness is next to godliness."

Thanks for your support Shiney!!! :dbgrtmb: Your perception of the reality of the situation is spot on! :ccheers: - that's the slugs in the 'Bar Limaco' down at the bottom of the garden. My conscience is clear in the knowledge that they died happily. :spinning:

Now the bindweed's showing, I'm just about to mix some diluted Glyphosate concentrate with wallpaper paste and food dye (so I know which ones I've done) to paint them with and wonder if I'm allowed to add more stuff to nasty chemicals or does the EU just impose silly bans like banning using garlic spray on garlic plants?

Scrungee, you're obviously not using a pesticide. ;) You're painting the bindweed to make it look pretty! :blue thumb:

Signed! A moment ago there were over 38000 signatures already. :blue thumb:

I believe EU bureaucrats must have their brains wired wrongly since there have been so many stupid directives and laws issued by them. :nonofinger:

If this is law passed, RHS will probably not be able to distribute their seeds to members anymore. And what about our GC seed swap scheme? Whatever happens, I'll carry on collecting my own seeds whenever I can. :thud:

The seed swap shouldn't be affected as I'm sure I can come up with a, legal, idea around any ban. ;) :blue thumb: (I would only need to read the full law.)

Even if it's just a matter of sending round packets of seeds as a quiz and asking if members could identify the plants by looking at the seeds. You would have to vote on what you thought they were and whether the name written on the packet was true or false.

Devious is my middle name! :snork:

I've spent most of my life working out, legal, ways around stupid rules and regulations. It's a, sort of, hobby of mine! (Sad, I know :heehee:). I've done it for myself, friends, clubs, businesses (big and small) and even a local authority. :hapydancsmil:
