    Pete - am afraid that you are right. Autumn has already started up here, its cold and now gets dark early.

    Ziggy - I like your potting shed - for potting Germans of course. :D

    There was an uncomfortable moment when some visiting german friends came to see what I was upto down the bottom of the garden a few weeks back.

    Does anyone else think the seasons smell different.
    It's been 32c and sunny here, but the air smells Autumnal.

    I agree, I think I know what you mean, although its mainly a change in the weather over here that's giving it the autumnal feel.

    But I can remember a few years when the weather has stayed warm well into Sept/Oct, but there is just something different about the light intensity and as you say, the smell.

    Definitely first thing in the morning.

    Got that autumnal smell this morning, especially as it was a clear, sunny but cool morning. Hopefully we'll have a good Indian summer...after the school kids have gone back to school!
