Just keep focused, better, health , bank balance, taste, clothes don`t smell, I never realised how bad the smell was, when in Swansea last week we passed a coffee shop, people were sat outside enjoying their coffee with a ciggie, I envied them until the stale smell hit me, I felt ill and had to rush past.

Still bobbing along on a positive note.

I won't fib, I did have a bit of a blip. But, during previous attempts, a "blip" meant I'd get mad at myself, become all defeatist and give in to the 'what's the point?' devil in my ear. This time, I dust myself off, forgive myself and remember that Rome wasn't built in a day and re-focus. I'm still feeling very positive - which is one half of the battle: but, the psychological 'addiction' is the greater challenge. But, I'm winning far, far more than I'm losing  Thank you for asking, Clue :spinning:

      :dbgrtmb: Good luck matey! :dbgrtmb:

Aww, thank you, my friend. That is most encouraging and very supportive - much appreciated :grphg:

Very well done, matey! :ccheers: See? I just knew you could do it! (Your ego couldn't take the chance of coming second to me :heehee: ;) )

My advice? Don't beat yourself sore if you have a blip: just so long as you keep your focus on the long haul :grphg: We CAN do it!!!! :dbgrtmb:

Well done to both of you, you should be really proud of your efforts! :dancy:

Its not an easy thing to do, but every day you get through without smoking is another day that is making it easier as you go along.

I'm chuffed for you both :)

                      Good point!

I have been treated for "high blood pressure"
This morning, my GP stated that my blood pressure was now back within "normal" range
This afternoon, I saw my smoking cessation nurse: she said my carbon monoxide readings were "normal" :yay:

                      Life is good! :yahoo:

No smoke for me for a week now.

That nearly changed today, after I got the fright of my life while driving dear old Gothilda back from a business outing. I went to steer out of a roundabout, and she decided to do a little tail flick. When I say 'little' tail flick, what I really meant to say was she decided to drift sideways. I had to be pretty fast and brutal on the steering wheel to snatch her out of it. Perhaps a bit too quick because her tail flicked the other way, causing me to end up on the wrong side of the road aiming directly at the front of a big transit pickup. Very fast steering back the other way, but trying to balance speed of response against risk of flicking her tail out again, meant I was travelling 45 degrees to the road but at least drifting in the general direction of my side of the road again. It was several tail flicks and considerable effort on the steering wheel before I finally regained full control.

I very nearly pulled in at the next service station to buy some baccy, but I stopped myself. I figured that I can't just go buying baccy every time something scary or stressful happens. If I did that, I'd be a permanent smoker for the rest of my days.

I'm beginning to think that I need new tyres. There's loads of tread on them, but maybe they're just really really bad in cold and wet conditions. Given the miles I've done and the number of skids and wheel spins I've accidentally made her do, there should be a lot less tread left than there is, which suggests to me that the tyres are made out of cheap, hard rubber. I can't afford a full set of new ones, so at the weekend I'm going to the scrappy to see if they have any decent ones in second hand.

I already do though. Especially if its cold and/or wet. I nurse her round the bends more gently than any other car I've had, and I know its not a trait of the car because my previous 940 estate, Helga, did much better, and in warmer/drier conditions Gothilda holds the road like she's on rails.
