Oi, tweaky and AndyK .... enough of that! ;)

David, I acquiesce to your great knowledge. Short of tossing the tree, which I have no intention of doing, any suggestions for feeding / TLC that I am obviously not giving it. Besides the second set of blooms, there are new shoots on it. I must say however that I have never known the tree to look any different than this, even when my neighbour had it .... and it does produce beautifully crisp, delicious apples.

Here's a couple more photos .... sorry but the background is awkward ... and you two zipper your mouths ....

PS It's staked because it was leaning to one side and I'm trying to straighten it. :)

Vicky, the stems should have fruiting sideshoots for the full length. You say there are new shoots forming, are these off the stem or the existing sideshoots? I would be inclined to stop the plant, that is take out the growing tip. Also, as has been pointed out, why are there 2 stems? There should only be one, that`s why it`s called a Ballarina. I would be inclined, during the dormant season, to take the weakest one out. I used to have booklets on how to look after them , Ill have a hunt around to see if I`ve any left. :thumb:

Evening you guys ... you just go ahead and discuss your ballerinas ........

David, I 'stopped' the left hand side last Autumn. I don't know why there are two stems ..... just measured from 1 meter up and now there are two small other stems developing ....very unhealthy I would say.

The new shoots are on the old stems. There are stubby side shoots on the two stems ..... should I clip into them to encourage growth? If so, now or in the Autumn?

Maybe it's a Ballerina standing on her hands, legs askew? :D:D:D Sorry, that's rude ....

T'other half is amazed at this conversation .... as he said .... you only wanted to know why it's blooming for a second time whilst fruiting (well, not quite in those words as he's American :D) ..........
