    If I drill holes in the bottom and lay slate clippings over them, will that be adequate stop the roots?

    Bamboo roots are powerful and I don't think many people would be happy to give you 100% guarantee that they wouldn't break through that tub. The tubs look quite strong to me so I would try it and see how they look after a couple of years. I always scout the ground around my bamboos and the mattock comes out if I find any stray roots.

    I found a rubber builders rubble tub in my shed. I used that in the end.
