Yes M :blue thumb:, I presume before they start spouting ? I will have to have a read up :dbgrtmb:,

I still cant believe how quick its growing, this particular plant is 11ft, from what ive read it will produce shoots longer than the year before, between 2 and 6ft longer,

So this one should be between 13/17ft this year, I was expecting the growth taking 3 months, not a few weeks.

As promised, a photo of a new shoot. I think it must be between 2.4m to 3 m tall. SAM_0293.JPG

Best plan to factor in a trip to Shineyland too ... then it will save putting them in the post and you get to join in all the shenanigans :hapydancsmil:

Hi, most of the leaves have stayed on over the winter i lost most of them mid winter last year by planting them out too early, they appear to be happy now,

I am looking forward to this years growth when should i start feeding them please.

Our bamboo "forest" sheds a lot of leaves each year, they're almost impossible to clear out as the stems are very close together and only inches from the back fence. Also some canes die off and I cut them out. I never feed it but I make sure it never goes short of water, it has to travel a long way up to the foliage, which is attached to the canes by very thin stalks.

I also prune off the tops of any "bolters." You have to show it who is boss!

We've also a black bamboo behind the pagoda, but it's taking its time to grow.

But we wouldn't want to be without our "forest," it's an effective screen and adds a bit of mystery to the bottom of the garden.

I'd like to know the answer to this too.

I bought 3, greatly reduced, in the Autumn. Two have survived quite well, one has lost most of its leaves but is still hanging in there (just!). I've got my fingers crossed they will survive. Wonder which feed is best?

I planted them out too early January i should have listened to good advice and wait while spring, anyhow they have adapted to there position and not lost as many leaves, this time last year they was bald,

I started feeding them last year when i noticed a new shoot, i am wondering if i should feed earlier first sign of a new shoot is ok ?.
