Nice, looks like a good job on the brickwork too. I have heard of quilt insulation where they clad the concrete with insulation biscuits, cage, then render, but not re-brick.

Sand blasted concrete, dug foundations, covered with 3" insulation boards then bricked, and got new double glazed windows and doors too. took them 6 weeks per house in all. 2005 BBQs around the scaffolding and plenty of pole dancing!!! :D

House all done when bathrooms fitted, just waiting on tiles for wall comming from Spain. I do want a conservatory we can have a 12ft x12ft, but that'll have to wait till next yr, should really have decking on stilts to match jungle, but you can't sit in that in winter! :D

Phew after going through that fantastic array of plants I think you should be renamed Jungle man, however I do have a problem with a banana plant I bought last year and carefully wrapped it up for the winter with wire mesh, straw and finally fleece and taking off all it's coats last week, it definitely doesn't look good. Will it reco   ver.

A picture would help me say but as a rule if it is a basjoo it will be ok if the roots aren't frosted. It should send a sucker up as replacement if the stem is lost. If the stem is sad and a bit mushy remove the mush to expose the fresh flesh and see if it progresses in this heat. Its not normal to loose the whole stem and can be cut back to the good stuff. All this assumes it is of reasonable size as babies may not be able to regenerate suckers for you and the stem may be too thin to avoid freezing all the way through.
