I have princess of wales, I put her in the same bed as prince charls who is just about to flower in my wisteria. Unfortunatly Princess of wales could not cope and got wilt every year - I just don't think they could cope with being in same bed together!

HOWEVER it is such a pretty thing I have another one down the garden and she does OK. I spray them now with fungiside when I do my roses.

    Love the pictures!

I am told that the 'Princess Diana Clematis' is considered one of the best clematis introductions of the 20th Century. [IMG]

strongy I would love more space (and money) for palms, and a few more beds that didn't have monsters in so that smaller beauties stood a chance. would a grove of banana plants be too much to ask ?

If I had to say one plant it would be a Butia capitata Jelly Palm or Trithrinax campestris or Cyathea dealbata or Tetrapanax papyrifer.

Hang on thats 4 sorry. Basically I need a bigger plot as there are far more plants I would like than I have room for :(

I really like it- might have to try one! Looks good in your disco pictures, too.
Please tell me you have at least one plant that is imperfect or I shall give up completely!

Yes I have an overcrowded Spirea which is getting agitated by a Golden Brian Escallonia and a Rhamnus Italian Buckhorn, (a job for the weekend I think). I also have a touch of black spot on my Arthur Bell which I forgot to treat in March. [IMG]

How big is your garden Stu ?

What I mean is, when a garden is empty, it can have the appearance of being huge (and I bet yours would appear so if it was empty).

No its very average sized small by most peoples standards. Only 50ft by 25 and only 40ft by 25 for most of it. Its all in the placement of tall plants and their colours, plus I worked on the diagonal from its longest point. You can have a good nose when you measure up. ;) I thought it was small when I bought it as my parents have a much bigger garden, but it was a bargain and proved to be a wise investment for a fresh 22 year old. :D

I would have a butia C but for it's spread and it would have to be in a pot. I have just orderd a Chamaerops Humilis Cerifera(the blue variety) on ebay as it will not spread too much and grow slowly. [IMG]

I've got some three year old seedlings of cerifera, they dont look particulary silvery at the moment, I'm just hoping it will come with age.
"This is one I did earlier", as they say, 21 years earlier. Ordinary Chamaerops that is.

And its flowering, it tried to flower last year but this is its first real go.
