Nasty one not far from me - Hounslow Chronicle; I reckon that its this block, and the worst affected house is the one with the old mustard coloured car outside.

        Poor blighters.

Maybe, but not today - its got a huge glass table and six chairs in there are the moment. I have been in 'scrub everything that doesn't move quick enough' mode today, then I sat down with a sarnie for lunch, and have ended up pottering on the net with Top Gear on in the background, and all the while I am fighting sleep. Proper holiday mode.

Apart from lots of rain here in Lincolnshire not much else happened. As far as I know my garden is OK - by the time I got home from work too dark to see.

Thank goodness there doesn't seem to be as much damage over the country as we were expecting and so pleased to hear that everyone is OK.

            I still have my blow-away ! :dbgrtmb:

Winds never really peaked here, got very blustery and wet, but nothing above about 40mph. The Cosmos out front took a bit of hammering, but was going to pull them this week anyway.

So sad to hear of those who have perished.

I hope all the GC community have got through 'relatively' unscathed.

            Stay safe.

'So much' for the predicted super storm, 1987 repeat, etc., I would've been tempted to say this morning after only experiencing a few squally showers, seeing 2 wheelie bins leaning at 45° and finding some twigs blown onto my plots.

But with many deaths and such variable amounts of damage over such a large area, I believe the Met Office got the balance of their warnings right, but not the likes of the Daily Express and Sky News.

The garden looks like a bomb hit it.
No lasting damage apart from root rock on a few things I now need to stake pretty fast.

Was quite a few trees down in the area, but the intensity of the storm was short lived, it was moving pretty fast and by 9am things had quietened down considerably.
With the dark nights now, the clear up will have to wait until next weekend.

I think they got it spot on considering they predicted it before the 2 systems occluded and gave pretty accurate timings, wind speeds and areas.

Its terrible that people died, but it could have been worse without the warnings.

Aye, they did a good job with this one really - and in all fairness to them, they are damned if they over-warn, and damned if they don't warn enough; suppose over-warning and being on the side of safety is best.

Aye, its been a nasty one that; in some respects, its a miracle that there haven't been more similar incidents around here, as many of the roads are lined with trees that in reality are too big for their pavement edge locations.
