                  I had them , the variegata japonica , but lost them in the big freeze of the 2010 .
                  architectural plants sell the confusa iris , they are unbelivable tropical looking but not hardy enough for my garden...shame

                  Just found this thread and I am amazed at the beauty and form of some of these.
                  A friend had just passed back to me a portion of a plant I gave her about 2 house moves ago. It's in a glas phial, in good light and I think it will throw out roots quite readily. I kept a paper sticker in my reader's Digest Encyclopaedia of Gardening plants and flowers. The flower is lovely, I would love to have a brooch copied from it. Shame it has the most putrid smell on this earth! You couldn't ask friends round to dinner with it as a dining room house plant. Stapelia variegata.
