I've had various solitary bees this year, I had some very small ones early in the year, they was nesting in tiny holes in the summer house, at a first glance you could easily mistake them for tiny fly's,

I will try and get a picture to help identify them, from memory here in the uk we have just over one hundred different types :yikes:.

Out of all the Bee friendly plants I have Verdun the Scabious and Fuchsias ( Mrs Popple and Berry ) are the plants that the Bees love the most. There are always several Bees on each plant every time I look. Even when its raining! The Buddlejas are popular too.

This is possible but not easy. I have had two Swift boxes up for three years, play the Swift call cds which I acquired from Swift Conservation. So far no takers. I've had them fly in low in response but not stay to breed. It is said to work best if there are already Swifts nesting close by, like a few houses away. In my case the nearest colony is about a mile or so away. I've taken advice and this was believed to bo close enough.......maybe next year will be the year when it works for me.

Hi @luciusmaximus , the Fuchsias have been cracking for the Bees this year. I can't ever recall removing so many berries before. A particular favourite of theirs has been " Dancing Flame " , a semi double orange and pink. I think every single flower has been pollinated and set it"s berry ( and there have been hundreds ).
