I've just heard from the seller, they asked when I planted the seeds. Told them I sowed them as soon as I received them, which is about right.

Show them this picture and complain that they sent you blue snowdrops instead of blue evening primroses

I've also bought seed from Premier, Just Seeds and some others on ebay. Plants from ebay sellers too. Not all are bad by any means, but if a particular variety is something you haven't seen or heard of in real life and looks really unusual, there's a fair chance it's not for real. Multicoloured strawberries, tomatoes etc as well as Rosa photoshopica as pictured in @BB3 's post. Yours was a quite a bit less obvious than many!

Ah I didn't realise you had sown them! Perhaps you'll have to put this one down to experience as I doubt ebay will refund.

I agree - I always buy from Premier Seed Direct.
You don't get any sowing instructions or care instructions on the packet but the quality is excellent as are the prices.

Be careful to plant it somewhere it can be contained if you find it, it's become one of the most invasive 'weeds' in my garden. I decided I wanted rid of it when I discovered that the flowers grip the proboscis of bees and butterflies causing their death from panic and exhaustion. The Oenothera has other ideas, though. 14 years on, even glyphosate won't get rid of it

I’m getting more cynical the older I get. Often an item says it’s shipped from the UK but if you go into more detail you find the origin is China. I don’t know how legal it is but I suppose as long as they state ‘sent from Uk’ then technically it’s been sent to the buyer from a UK based vendor.

I think that goes on a lot on E bay, the Chinese set up a UK address which they then use to mail stuff from, they know its mostly rubbish and people are wary.
You cant tell when you get your E mail receipt by the writing or the name.

The problem with buying something from a seller based in China can be even if they send it from the UK, you may have to do any return to an address in China, which is costly and can run the clock down on your window for a refund.

I always check the seller's business details at the bottom of the listing and if they are in China, I click away.
