Solved Beetles in mung beans

A coincidence but just come across this.
‘I was just trying to be eco-friendly but ended up with bugs in my rice’

 

It can happen to any one but you have to regulary check your grains when they are stored,if not you get a problem, as they say the weevils are harmless but they eat the grain and lay eggs inside go unchecked you get a infestation and turn grain to dust and they can stay dorment for a very long time then when some one puts grain under their nose they jump staight in and start again

 

Kelly has just informed me that there were over a thousand cowpea seed beetles in my bag of mung beans. They originate from Africa so the cold weather in winter would eventually have killed them off. But she did add , it wouldn’t have been a good idea to let them free in my garden. V

Interesting and I'm pleased you got an ID. However who is Kelly and where does she fit in?

 

I'd probably put them in the freezer overnight and dump them the next day.
Cant see the point in counting them?

Yes but, whole foods online would have refunded (£10. 38 ) had I “ given them the chance to make it up to me’ but I do feel it was for the best as there is a problem in one of the entry ports bringing goods in from China. V
