Been making sure they've not gone short of water, don't want them bolting, & feeding regular with homemade liquid feed, got more of them like that, terrified they'll bolt 2 days before the show, need to enter 3.

Quick pickled a smaller one for putting in sandwiches for lunch this week earlier, it filled a standard size jam jar:cool:

But Ziggy are they not like eating mahogany?

How long do you boil them for?

Tis odd Pete, many people are saying that beetroot go woody when that big, probably the same ones that say you can't eat Garfish because their bones are green.

Not in the habit of eating wood myself, don't like runner beans that have got too big. My boy is very fussy when it comes to food, but he happily sat down & ate a 1lb Beetroot to himself last night.

Not noticed a single bit that I have had to spit out after chewing yet.
Maybe they go woody if you ignore them & don't water them enough :what:

Oh, missed that bit, boiled as long as the spuds, usually do them in the same pan, about 10-15 mins tops.

No, the Spuds go the same colour as Carrots, thereby explaining a very old mystery.:dbgrtmb:
