Don't worry, you'll manage 75 litres OK :old:. I get Wickes to load them into my car for me. :dbgrtmb: I just play the doddery old pensioner card  :heehee:

Got one bag of Levingtons this year (usually happy with them) and it seems a less consistent and some odd textures, reasonable though. Local nursery run out of it so bought a couple of bags of MiracleGro which is horrendous, so fibrous it's like its got brillo pads mixed up in it - awful.

Like I think @Lolimac is trying which I read elsewhere I'm trying to buy as little as possible commercial stuff as it generally it seems a bit rubbishy the last few years and really work up to providing my own from compost heaps and a kitchen waste composter but ran short (i.e. was too lazy to turn etc :snork:) so had to buy a few bags.

Wasn't happy with the Leveringtons or the MiracleGro and luckily my local nursery has the Murphys back in stock when I went earlier, bought a few bags and much much better than the others, and cheaper too. Nurseryman was saying that these days the companies are responsible for the sieving and grading of the added recycled materials and their results vary a lot - no kidding! I'll be sticking with Murphys, think it was £4.39 a 70l or 3 for £12.

Went into my local ALDI today - last two 40 litre bags of peat-free compost were sitting on a pallet inside the store, both had a small rip at the top - "Any chance of a discount for the damaged bags?" I asked. - Certainly Sir, half price! so, 80 litres of compost for less that £2.00 - @Scrungee would be proud of me.

Nice one, you've been Scrungeed. Though I'm sure he would have had a coupon too and got them for 49p.

                  Good Morning,

Thank you for your recent letter from which we were sorry to hear that you have been disappointed following the use of Levington Multi Purpose Compost.

The white fungus that you mentioned is saprophytic. These spores are in the air waiting for the right conditions to germinate; unfortunately these are the same conditions that are created to grow young plants. Although it maybe considered aesthetically unappealing, this type of fungi will only feed on dead organic matter and will not affect living plants.

As a gesture of goodwill, we will post out some Scotts Garden Vouchers for you to use of future purchases. "

Try a B&M store with garden centre (but perhaps not at this time of year), only £4.99/60L

Back in March I recommended this stuff and after another busy year, I still can't fault this stuff and have used nothing else for my planters and baskets. I've also used it for seeds and cuttings as its fine and fluffy :)

I need a compost that I'm 100% confident with for my business so I can thoroughly recommend this stuff, its quality hasn't changed and there have been no bad batches and I've got through 100's of bags this year :)
