    My hubby got our compost from morrison's over a week ago...going at £2-00 now it's back to just over £3 :)

            I'll stick with my B&Q General Purpose [Peat added] Compost at £6.98p per 125 liters of which I usually buy around 14 Bales . I mix it with sand and grit and have always had good results with my Toms and potted plants. Changing over to any other brand would obviously double or quadruple my cost.:nonofinger::snorky:

              The Wickes compost price for the equivlent amount of 125litres is 6.26

                Well, it is alkaline so the veg plot plants would love it. My sandy soil leans towards alkaline so I wouldn't have great use for mushroom compost:wallbanging::dunno::snorky:

                I did try two bales of it last year, Shiney, but found it to be lumpy and containing a lot of bits of twigs:hate-shocked:..........which might have been a "one off", but I wasn't impressed:dunno::snorky: B&Q compost is nothing special but it has, for me, been acceptably consistent enough in quality for me to feel confident when buying it.......especially as I get a discount on damaged bales.:hapydancsmil::heehee:

                  Have used tons of mushroom compost but you can overdo it. Yes, it can increase alkalinity considerably so be aware of what plants can be damaged by it.....not just the well known azaleas, rhodos, etc., but others like lupins too :)

                    In the early years of our garden a fair number of plants showed signs of Chlorosis and it took years to get the ph right in the soil. I think that, obviously, it will all swing around the ph in gardeners soil where or not to use it.:dunno::ouch1::snorky: I certainly find that acid lov:wallbanging::heehee:ing plants will pack their bags and disappear should I attempt to grow them in the borders.

                      Our Homebase is a 30% reduction store. There is no way of knowing how long it will stay that way. There are things in there that I would like but I don't want to buy them all now. Knowing my luck the store will either

                      a) close down before I get to buy all the things I want or
                      b) turn into a Bunnings after I've bought what I need and then charge less than I paid for them.

                      It' a puzzlement.
