Today I'll be picking up another 4 x 70 litre bags from Wickes.

I suppose I should qualify that statement - I shan't be doing any picking up but their staff will do it for me :snorky:. When I get it home I shall slide it from the boot onto a wheelbarrow. :blue thumb:

That will be my third batch this year, with only about another 10 = 15 loads to go this season. I've already asked them to ban Scrungee :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I've been looking at bark chipping. If I have done my working out correctly

      received_2000183273387718.jpeg
      100l @ £6.96 - 30% = £5.60 ish

      Which is cheaper than 2 x 50l @ £2.99

      received_2000183570054355.jpeg

I also believe either of these are cheaper than buying a bulk bag and having it delivered. If anybody knows of anything better, please let me know.

Does anybody else think that Jack's Magic purchased this year is more sandy? It also appears to be drying out quicker.

        3 x 100L Bags of JAB bark for £15 at my local Homebase = £5 For 100L Offer on 21 - 26th March 2018

@Jack Sparrow You asked if you had done your working out correctly. Sorry, but you haven't! But it's GOOD NEWS :hapydancsmil: as 30% off £6.96 brings it down to £4.87 :dbgrtmb:. You had worked out at approx. 20% and not 30% :noidea:

Good news indeed @shiney  thanks. Unfortunately when I called in just now, they didn't have any left. Just to rub it in, gardening and landscaping is now only 20% off. You can't win no matter what you do. :wallbanging:.

I want to move to where @Scrungee lives. Everything seems to be cheaper there.

B&Q have 4 x 100l bark chipping for £22. That' not too bad. There is a choice of large bits, small bits or natural colour bits.

                    :snorky:

Before anybody thinks they can get a further 10% off on a Wednesday using an over 60's card, B&Q don't allow the discount on existing offers such as multi-saves

I've found that this latest batch of Wickes compost is not as good as last year's (the first batch I bought was last year's).

So I've written and complained to them and the manufacturers (Westland) are coming to see me next week. :) I've told them to bring some good compost with them. :heehee:

In what way is it not as good? Is it suitability for seed sowing, poor growth of plants potted in it, appearance (which might not affect performance), etc. ?
