Very peaceful Philip. I like the solitude in your walks. I dislike being around lots of people. Eve when I go to a restaurant I have to sit on the fringes so I can see everyone who comes and gos. :rolleyespink:

I would like to start a thread, but I don't go out much these days. When Beryl was alive we used to go to lots of places, but it isn't the same going on your own, I feel an emptiness everywhere and then I become sad and return home.
However, we have to find ways of moving on and I have made a list of places to visit in the near future (hoping we'll get a nice autumn) and a friend is going to come with me so watch this space

I agree,.. walking on your own not being the same as when you used to have Beryl as company,..i suppose i would feel likewise but for always having the dog along,..looking forward to seeing what you come up with on your adventures with the friend along.

Thankfully no calls to help boating friends of late,..so two walks daily for Foxy Molly,..north and south along the river.

Everytime i take a walk i spot an area i have not checked out one such place is the image below where i spotted some 'Crocosmia' in bloom,..if i have time i will venture further.

                      IMG_20210828_140158.jpg

Coming out of the woods to that bright area ahead is one place i don't like to even remember,..there were two Rabbits let free there a male and female,..i didn't think they would survive as the area ahead floods from the river and only a 12 metre area would be above water,..the pair survived and i visited regular,..they had youngsters,..of course being Rabbits after 12 months there were many rabbits,..in fact within a short time i counted 18 in all,..then one Monday they were all accounted for,..the following day not a sign of one?

I suspect a local who was complaining they might arrive in his garden,..left out something for them to eat and they died in their burrows,..sad about this so i hate going further towards that area.

The woods look pleasantly shady on a warm day, lovely views of the river.
Pity you can't go further but it is sad about the rabbits, you seem a very sensitive person. I am like that also, can get quite emotional about animals.

I found another route where i can go around what was the Rabbits area,..this one has Foxes Dens,..i imagine they had the odd Rabbit when they were aplenty.

Where animals are concerned i can be very sensitive,..always was so,..however everything else was behind a Firewall and had to be for nearly two decades,..that's the Military training,..you can not show any weakness when leading a patrol,..any situation where one was seen to be a weak link,..its very difficult to adjust to what would be classed as fitting into normal society,..its like having a split personality,..one to get rid of and the new one :)

Yes indeed,.. watership downish,..i knew the chap who released the rabbits and it made me take an interest in seeing how they coped,..i didn't rate their chances being released so close to the flood area but they did very well,..as for the other chap who presumed they would head into his garden,..he lived about quarter of a mile away,..always complained about Foxes being in his garden,..i point the finger at him and told him so,..he walks around me ever since :)

Oh that metal ''BBQ'' like item is a good description :hapydancsmil:,..i captured another image of it for you today :),..its cool to sit on being metal,..plus the wee holes in the metal allow air to cool ones bottom quicker after a long walk

Year before last someone had placed snares in the fields behind my house and foxes were killed. A neighbour found them and reported it to the police. They had a good idea who the culprit was and he was caught and punished accordingly. I was pleased to know that, I have no time for any sort of cruelty.
