Hi Strongy! Put it like this - I've got hundreds of plain house alarm pictures and one or two house martin pictures! I think they know when you are pointing a camera at them!!!

O2 - :D:D ! So if we are broken in to, not only will the burglar set off the alarm, he will get covered in bird poop too!!!!

Hobby, yes I know it is a distant shot (in the middle on the dead tree) but that's the best I could do with this camera and it flew off just as I had taken it.

All new additions duly noted Strongy!

Well done for catching the Hobby - I've never seen one of them before!

And I take my hat off to you at knowing the difference between the warblers AND catching them on film.

    Bravo!

Pity the Hobby wasn't clearer (well it was through the bins).
A Sedge has steaky plumage and a creamy white stripe over the eye, the Reed has a plain colour overall with a lighter brown back and rump and no stripe over the eye, the song is different too. Takes a lots of trips to see and distinguish both there are far more Reeds than Sedge on the reserves here, I am still a novice and have difficulty recognising some. Going to Portland Bill early tomorrow as the RSPB are having a Puffin/seabird count, I don't think there are more than a handful of Puffins on Portland but should see some Guillemots if nothing else.:)

Didn't get to the Puffin watch due to unforseen circumstances.:(
Fortunately Glen has got far better pics than I would have hoped to get and we don't see Gannets here very often, well done fantastic close ups.:thumb:

Tree Sparrows - never seen these chaps myself - anywhere- never mind being slightly out of focus - I thought it was more of a MIRAGE!

    Well done Glen!

PS Glen - hope you didn't get squirted by the Fulmar for going too close. You know when people say they shoot the most disgusting fishy stinky goo at you, through the nose tube, if they are stressed.... you know that everyone says how vile it is... and yet you really want to know for yourself how awful it is just in case people are exaggerating...????

Well next time... just get a bit closer and start flapping your arms around - in the interests of science I think it is your responsibility to report back JUST how bad Fulmar Squirt is!!!! :p - just make sure it doesn't go anywhere near your wonderful camera!!! ;)

    :D
