Jackdaw giving me the evil eye today while sitting up our pear tree and hoping I'd go away so he could scoff all the bird food I'd just put out.

I think Jackdaws are quite comical, the way they waddle around but they do seem to have an evil look sometimes. Great pic Dave.:thumb:

    Dave W - 2 excellent shots.

The Jackdaw pic in particular is wonderful as it shows all the main features for anyone who gets the black carrion birds confused on identification - great white eyes, black cap and grey neck.

    Fantastic photos :thumb:

sorry for delay cookie, been away! I'm afraid if i'd have gotten any closer to the fulmar my arms would definatly have been flapping, there would probably be an unpleasant smell;) and I wouldn't have given a damn about my camera!! They were all about 20 foot down a 100 foot cliff!!!:D:eek:

thanks strongy. I use a canon s3 camera, its got a decent zoom lens with it (focal length is 436mm) with a sony vcl-1758 1.7 teleconverter attatched, giving a 741mm focal length. Its still fairly light and easy enough to keep relatively stable without using a tripod although I will use a tree/fencepost/anything to lean against if possible.

Lovely shots, as always Glen :)

All duly added to main list! Well done! How lucky to catch the Buzzard so close.

Thanks Cookie. Was thinking, would you be able to give a page number along side the names list on page 1 of this thread? that way, people can use it as a reference without trawling through pages of photo's. I know it will mean a bit of work but i'll happily help

    Well everyone!

I've amended the main list as requested :)

It now has page references to each bird listed, as well as the precise post number written as # 'number' in red - according to the post number listed at the far right on the green bar of each post title. This is because some birds are listed more than once on the same page under different posts.

If I have made any glaring mistakes or omissions in the list, please let me know!

The tally to date now stands at 130 individual species plus my mongrel ducks!

So still lots of different birds to find and photo!

Best of Luck with your birdwatching

    Regards

    Kath
