    Thanks Strongy and Periwinkle :)

Strongy - there seems to be a population of a few herons at this country park, so I'm almost always guaranteed to see one. I'm lucky that the park is only 20 mins drive from where I live. I promise it is a real one and not a plastic pond decoy heron!!

Periwinkle - you'll have to forgive me as I don't know anything about apertures or focal lengths or anything vaguely technical about photography - I'm a 'point and shoot and hope for the best' girl :D

I got a second hand Fuji Finepix S7000 which has a 6x optical zoom and 3.2x digital zoom. To this I attach an Olympus 1.7 Teleconverter lens for more distant subjects.

This heron was taken from a bird hide so I was lucky to be able to rest the camera on the window sill - Otherwise I get terrible problems with camera shake blurring on full zoom.

Ebay camera and teleconverter came to under £100 on ebay second hand.

The pleasure it gives me is worth 100x that!

I must admit that I take a lot of duff pics for every nice shot :o

I like the turnstones and wheatear - never seen a wheatear myself.

The sunlight is catching the 2 turnstones beautifully.

Good to see a Rock Pipit .... on a rock ! Doing what it says on the tin! :)

Very blustery down on the South Devon coast today too.

Lovely photos everyone:thmb:makes me feel like I wish I was down by the coast right this minute, though it is lovely to sit here and see all the views you are getting and all those lovely birds. Thanks for sharing your photos with us:gnthb:

Cookie I was reading this morning they have had some flash flooding down near Zennor and St Just and a car got swept away when a stream became a raging torrent and there was only one suvivor such is the power of nature:(

Quite true Kandy - flash flooding is very dangerous.... remember Boscastle and Lynton floods.

No-one must underestimate the power of nature. This time of year the coastguard around us is mad busy with visitors who go out and get caught up in tides and weather they are not used to.
