For birds she uses one drop of 'Rescue Remedy' in a quarter cup of water. It helps cancel the shock that they suffer. It is made to be used for humans for shock and upset but works just as well on animals and birds and she has pretty good success with poorly plants (ones that have been moved, dug up or you've forgotten to water - a couple of drops in a watering can). There are 38 different remedies in the range (all from plants etc) and are used to help different emotions.

Peri, it's a female pheasant. We have one male and five females that spend most of the day in our garden. We have had them around for years and watched young ones grow up. Each year a male claims our bird feeder for himself and his harem. When the young ones are around I try to work out which male is going to be the boss in a couple of year's time. Oscar the cat and the pheasants have a mutual respect and he doesn't bother them.

Thanks Nutty :) It is a shame they are so shy and secretive - not at all like their brash magpie cousins!

Wonderful Cormorant Woo - I've never been that close to one myself :thumb:

Although not a native of this country, I am putting this photo in the survey as it is readily seen at the new wonderful Living Coasts exhibition in Torquay - highly recommended.

This wood pigeon was very timid but has been becoming bolder by the week. It now sits on the kitchen window sill stuffing itself from the feeder and hardly bothers with us at all. I've been trying to get a snap of its head for a week or so and finally managed this evening.

It amazes me at what a wimp he is for such a big bird - he lets the blackbirds chase him off and is even a bit insecure when a sparrow or two gets too close!

Mum blackbird has her work cut out at present feeding three youngsters. Dad is pretty good at feeding them too. Couldn't get a decent pic of all three fledglings being fed together as they tended to get into a huddle!
