    Brilliant pics again!
Did you know the Stone Curlews were around or just lucky?
That's three for Cookie to add.:gnthb: and three I haven't seen.

I have been lucky enough to see Marsh Harriers from our living room window as there are now five, three young hatched some weeks ago and are now flying around the reserve.
I hoped to get better pics but not so far.
Off to Madeira next week but unfortunately it is not brilliant for birds, mostly the same as here.

thanks strongy, 3 lifers for me too! I knew the stone curlews were there, they are known to nest at Weeting heath, a norfolk wildlife trust reserve. It was pretty easy to find them, thats all that was there save for hundreds of rabbits! The nightjars were a lucky find, we spent most evenings watching and listening to them, the last night was when I got the photo, it was sat churring for a good few minutes, absolutely brilliant!! The wood lark was a LBB spot, I thought it was a wood lark but had it confirmed by helpful birders on another forum. We also went to try and catch a glimpse of golden oriel, crane and bearded tits at rspb lekenheath fen but it was really windy and nothing was showing except a couple of hobbies catching dragonflies ( way to fast to photo!) and quite a few marsh harriers all at distance. Oh to see them from my living room!! we get collared doves though! :-)
Enjoy Madeira, Have you been before?? A gardeners paradise I hear, i'm sure there will be birds too

The adult Marsh harriers are feeding the young which, although flying, aren't catching their own food yet. They may possibly move over to lodmoor to extend their hunting range.
Had a visit this morning of 12 Long Tailed Tits, I was in the middle of cleaning an aquarium but grabbed the camera, They look a bit scruffy this time of year. They actually stayed for two or three minutes!
Haven't been to Madeira before but nearly everyone I know has!:D

Went to tthe RSPB hide again this afternoon, the Harriers were not very visible, only got this distant shot of two of them as they were about a 1/4 of a mile away. If I lived in one of those big houses behind I would get far better pics.:)

This isn't a very good shot but the best I could get without disturbing mum on the eggs. It is in a tree near one of our windows and I have taken it through the glass.

It is just a wood pigeon on the nest but I don't know if we already have one on here.

I'm hoping that some of you birdie people can identify a bird for me. The problem is that I haven't been able to see but have only heard it.

This morning it spent two hours in one of my trees and I shall try to describe its sound. It was a rather monotonous single 'peep' that was approx one to one and a half seconds long and repeated approx every three seconds. This went on continuously for the two hours. From the volume of the sound I would say that it is a small bird.

If any of you can suggest what it is I can then go onto the RSPB site and listen to it.

    Thanks :gnthb:

    Hi Kandy,

Thanks for trying but it isn't a wren :) . A wren has a sort of trill whereas the bird I heard was a single, smooth note and it was longer than the short trill of the wren.
