Lovely photo of the Song Thrushes and the Black headed Gull Woo:gnthb:Song Thrushes are a bit rare in my village and have only seen a coupld since we moved here.Where I used to live I had a pair that raised two broods in my garden one year and they loved to feast on my snails.I could do with them over here now:D

Thanks for sharing them with us:thmb:

By the way have you got any screamers{Swifts} yet? We have just started to see the first ones flying over the village last weekend so the summer is definetly on its way:)Haven't heard a Cuckoo yet though:(

The Thrush pic is great Woo, we get one each winter for about two months and then gone for the rest of the year!
There are plenty of Swifts here now and more arriving each day, they are declining in this country due to the demolition of high old buildings restricting their nesting site choice as they cannot build nests on newer ones as the nesting material (mud and stuff) will not stick to plastic fascias or other modern materials.:(
Our local RSPB reserve has just built a Sand Martin wall to encourage them to stay and nest instead of flying through on their way elsewhere.:)

This chap gets bolder by the day. He'll now perch on my knee to feed from my hand and if Mrs W is sitting on one of the patio chairs he'll perch on the back of it waiting for me to feed him.

There hasn't been an entry here for a while so I thought I would add the White Stork that I saw last week flying over Abbotsbury Swannery.

Jack Snipe, Radipole Lake reserve Weymouth.
Shorter bill than common Snipe and a black stripe on crown.

The ubiquitous Robin Woo - as if you didn't know.
I just love them - always so bright and chirpy.
And thank you for posting the pic - it resurrected this thread and some great pics.

      Hi Woo

Going back a bit - to the balmy days of July - but that pic looks a like a reed bunting. Do you know the RSPB site? Here's the link. You can listen to the song as well:-

      http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/r/reedbunting/index.aspx

If that doesn't fit, try their bird identifier:-

Woo, at first glance I though it was a Coal Tit but it's head is all black which shows it to be an overwintering Blackcap.:gnthb:
