Now that I have my sunglasses on, and can look at it - I can see it's the actual post, not the signature.... The monkey!! Blimey!! :D

With the sudden change of the weather to autumnal, I've been getting my BOPs ready to come in for the winter. Here are Reg1 and Nic. Reg2 is behind the Canna. Nic has two small side shoots at the bottom, so is enjoying life. No doubt they will grow at right angles to the main plant, and will have to be cut off before winter 07, so that it will still fit into the outhouse. Nic1,2,3 here we come. Reg1 and 2 both have a flower bud.

Hi, Nik! They're all lookiing great and such a shame you'll have to cut them back! I also see your Brugmansia looks very healthy!

Here is Concorde the morning I went to the UK and again today having been battered by two days of heavy rains and storms. In spite of this, there are five more baby Concordes on the runway!

Hold your breath now ... when K-G and I went ot the Giga Garden Centre last week and she kindly bought me the Passiflora Victoria and a Callistemon "Flaming Fire" (I'll post this separately), we saw a S augusta in a pot that we considered purchasing ....

however, it was in a 2 metre wide pot and was perhaps 20 feet tall already and ... ready ... cost 3,308.,85 Euros (for those who can't convert, that's £2,316.20). We thought it would go nice behind the curved marble bench with lions are armrests and an arbour around the top which cost a mere 19,000 Euros (£13,300) and the 40 foot long marble pergola walkway (sorry, can't remember the price) but after discussion thought it best until we win the Euromillions and I buy a bigger property! :D :D :D

My BoPs are sick as parrots!

This pot of them has always been a problem with curved leaves, joined leaves, etc, but now there's a BoP about to flower without a stem ...

And the ones that are on stems are sick looking ...

    Should I start feeding daily?

Know what you mean about joined leaves and distorted flowers, I even had a flower bud that came to nothing last year.
I'm sure its to do with pot culture and not enough feeding/ watering as the flowers are developing.
I think they are greedy plants and tend to feed every watering if I can in the summer, in winter its not so easy as I like to keep them dryish but if too dry I think that can ruin the flowers.
    as well.

Have you ever seen the ones that are like double flowers, the stem forms in the normal way but when it opens another flower bud comes out on a short stem and turns 180degs to the original. Then both flower buds open together, I had one do this, but it was before I had a digi camera so I dont have a picture. :( [IMG]

Having a second look at your plant, it obviously different to mine.
The leaves are shorter, but the flowers are the same height I'd say.
Mine flower level with the tops of the leaves roughly.

Thanks pete. I'm glad I'm not alone with these problems!

I shall feed and water tonight and continue to do daily and see if they perk up a bit.

My flowers don't seem to be any paticular height, from this stemless one to the shorter ones, a couple leaf high and these three giants!

No, I haven't seen the double flowered one but it sounds nice.

My S nicholai has a new leaf. Oh, better feed it as well!

My Bird of paradise has just finished flowering, but it only had 1 flower just like last year. Got another one too but it's only young got at least another 2yrs before flowers will come. My flowering one sits on patio from late May till October, they do need quite a bit of water but a little less in winter. [IMG]
