Mine was not quite a bad as pete's but it was definitely potbound. Digging deep we found some good soil and there's plenty of room for it to expand, so here it is in it's new home ...

I only managed to catch my hand between two of the large rocks so have a nice bruised and swollen finger! :(

The Strelizia nicolai is sending up it's second new leaf this year ...

And, no, I'm not going to find a hole to put it in! :D

They do push themselves up and out the pot kedi, makes them difficult to water and feed.

yours look happier now LOL, I'm sure all that hard work will be worth it.
The nicolai is even less suitable for pot growth, but I think we've been there before :D

Thanks Pete, all advice VERY gratefully accepted. My daughter's got one as well, I can have a competition with her now. Don't think I'll tell her about this site! All the best

Today's update sees my stemless double BoPs with a near stemless one coming up behind ...

Is there no end to the deformity of this plant, I ask.

The whole plant looks a bit compact to me, the leaf stalks look short.
It looks nice and green and healthy though.

I'm sure I didn't buy anything that said "dwarf".

I've heard the theory that if the leaves are good, the flowers are c*r*a*p and vice versa. But remember, I have "Siamese" leaves on this as well.

We'll see how it goes in the ground now through the summer and I'll post from time to time.

I've had siamese leaves as well on mine from time to time, I'm sure it will sort itself out now, but it might take a year or two.

I posted in My Algarve Garden a picture of my last Poinsettia which I photographed this morning.

In the background you can see two BoPs ready to open ... they are open this afternoon!

They obviously like being in the ground, especially with the rains since being planted. [IMG]

My out side all year experiment has opened its first flower, and it a large bud as well, but the only one on the plant so far.
It just gets minimum frost protection, all the wind and rain and has been there two years now.
