I read this twice, but can't find the bit about just having one tinny while you work.

It goes without saying, as I wander around the garden I always have a cuppa on the go. Down the allotment I take a thermos :)

I must admit, under most circumstances I'd choose a cuppa over a beer when pottering. The exception being if it's a scorching hot super bright sunny day, but those are quite rare.

In a world where the global population of elderly people is increasing at a rate far greater than "replenishment stock" (e.g. youngsters), wouldn't it be a little bit naïve of those who believe in BitCoin to be "too obvious" to ignore that generation? Those very people who are either not interested in computers or, have no trust in computers? Maybe, there are those of that generation who dipped their toes into the digital world and, effectively, had their bank accounts/savings robbed by scam emails (predominantly from a certain continent) who would be even more sceptical? Or, those people who have fallen victim to identity theft, perhaps? I wonder how the advocates, who see it all so very clearly, would even touch the tip of the proverbial iceberg in convincing those people of its "safety"?

Then again, in my lifetime I have seen the demise of some of those "little bits of paper" which were "doomed for the scrap heap". Firstly through decimalisation; then the demise of the paper pound (replaced by a coin); most recently the demise of the paper fiver ... replace with ... a type of plastic? :heehee: So, you are quite right, paper money does have a lifespan. How soon "very soon" is though is another matter.

Where does this leave me? My entire career is built on my interest in computers, programming, databases and interprocess communication.

Perhaps that's part of the reason I wouldn't trust bitcoins. Nobody has ever managed to convince me yet that the concept is secure.

If I had one pound for every time and infallible encryption algorithm that would take a million years to crack with modern computers, had been cracked, I'd have quite a few quid.

              Computers are not secure.

Yes. But the opposite way to most. I'm getting younger.

I didn't actually know about that. I meant I'm literally getting younger over time. Not today as I lay here with gastroenteritis. But in general. If I measure age by ability, agility, stamina etc, everything keeps improving over time. Ergo, I am getting younger.

It's on those scorching hot, super bright sunny days that, if offered a Pint of cold Beer or a Pint of cold Orange Juice.........the Cold Orange Juice would win every time.

Absolutely. Both generations should be equally respected. *Bitcoin.

There are millions more who have fallen victim to the failing banks, stock markets and corrupt governments and economies and in answer to that, Bitcoin has arrived as a possible solution.

I always like learning new things. And I always say.. Don't ever listen to anyone regarding your own personal finances... And so on that note... I shall hereby :mute: regarding this topic.

:heehee: Except to say that the figures I quoted near the start of this thread '$600 worth of Bitcoin seven years ago...' Is an absolute mind blowing, fact.

Thank you everyone for the enlightening conversation. All I wanted was a donation button called Bitcoin. That was it basically. The answer is a clear NO though and that's perfectly fine!! :pathd:

And now... Off to the garden of course :hapfeet:

@FloraPie You'll get used to the ramblings of the members. :snork: We'll discuss anything to death and expound on the topic until the cows come home - and especially in our winter when it's difficult to get out and do things in the garden.

We also get topics started because of totally silly thoughts - such as:-

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do -- write to these men? Why don't they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen could look for them while they deliver the mail? Or better yet, arrest them while they are taking their pictures!
