After using that £10 code, got sent a second 'welcome back' £10 off code!

Checking through our accounts again, found one had another offer (also had it a couple of months ago) of buy £30's worth of gift cards/e-codes and get an extra £6 credit, yet another 20% off.

Also got 2 x £5 John Lewis gift cards, one each from our 2 x JL orders, and when we collected from MK store we got 3 x free hot drinks and cakes on each of our two visits which were arranged to coincide with picking up and dropping off our daughtervat MK rail station.

All these little extras add up.

We did a trip to Smyths toystore and sorted all the kids (and it seems the extended family and friends' kids too...) for Christmas :) Saved a bundle but finding it difficult to store these bulky plastic things everywhere!

I was parked outside their MK Store when I read your post. Gone for us are the cheap Xmas present toys bought half price from Wilkos after 12.00 noon on Xmas Eve, our daughter was next door in Decathlon buying rock climbing gear, doesn't seem that long ago when a 2nd hand climbing frame was thought of as a wonderful present.

All too soon cheap toys become replaced by expensive school trips, D of E equipment/trips, new laptops, tablets, cameras, phones, phone credit, printers, ink, incredibly expensive uni trips, tents, walking boots, Goretex waterproofs, etc., etc. And despite her intentention to do a bit of work next year, she then wants to go back to uni for an MA, possibly followed by a PhD.

P.S. @Zigs Would one of these be useful?

As most of you know, I don't bother with things like Black Friday as I'm too stingy to want to buy anything! :snorky:

We were going to look at brochures to sort out holidays for next year but I received a Black Friday deal by email. One holiday company, that we use, has already given us a voucher for £500 off because I wrote to them telling them how to improve some of their excursions they were offering. We are also entitled to a 'previous customer' £100 per person of any booking and their Black Friday offer promised to double that. It was still not enough to attract us to purchase immediately but I phoned them and asked for more money off (don't ask, don't get) and they have given us an extra £1,000 off. Total reduction £1,900. So booked a holiday. :dbgrtmb:

That philosophy has always served me well, and not just confined to shopping :)

Well, there's been no Black Friday bargains from the Astronomy Dealers, which is not a surprise as they are notorious for ignoring sales and discounts.:snorky:

Got another gift card offer on one of our Amazon accounts, but only £5 credit when buying £50's worth of gift cards/e-codes. Only a 10% saving :frown: , although it combines nicely with £10 off £50 codes to encourage re-use of dormant accounts, achieving a whopping 30% saving actually only a 25% saving as £15 off £60.

The message only appears at the very last stage of ordering before hitting the Buy Now button, so whatever deal they offer can be selected, gift cards/codes purchased, account credited with promotional amount, then transaction completed using codes + credit to achieve the saving.

N.B. These codes/credit is only for stuff sold by Amazon. So I've just paid £70 for a camera battery sold by Amazon and got £15 off, rather than buy one from another seller on Amazon who wanted £69.90.

Who wants to buy gift cards? Or gifts? :dunno: :old:

I can save £60 by not buying gift cards - or even more if I don't buy more expensive ones.

                        Me!

I bought another lot for myself to get a free £5 code to go with another free £10 off £50 code and used all of them when placing an order for stuff for my in-laws and made £15 to use on something of my choice at a later date.

Where I used to work. Everybody sent everybody else xmas cards. There were piles of cards left on the staffroom table. It was a farce. It was much easier to write one card to everyone. That's what started to happen towards the end. Instead of cards I took in cakes or biscuits. I even made my own one year.

                            G.
