Black lace sambucus dead?

        you could keep the dahlia in the coal shed , but the geranium needs light to survive as it doesnt go dormant over winter like the dahlia

          Sambucus is hardy and will stand temperatures of -15 to -20 however, like Acers I've discovered it doesn't like a windy site, the leaves burn off.
