Blasted earwigs, how to eradicate them?

I could have done with a lend of that umbrella @wiseowl . Went to the Open Golf on Monday as only £10 to get in instead of £80 (jeesss wouldn't have paid that) and got soaked!

 

Not sure it isn't only my skin that is thick @wiseowl . The forecast for Monday was hellish and I didn't even think to take an umbrella or waterproof jacket with me, clot!

 

I keep a wee pot of vaseline in my shed and rub a little along the stem below flower/bud. It doesn't get rid of the earwigs but my Dahlias are left alone! They are an absolute pain (the earwigs) and so darned quick! I have chopped them in half and still they run around!!!
