I guess it depends on the frequency of attack? I used to get it every year so routine spraying made sense.

Trouble with Bordeaux mixture it covers the fruit with that blue gunk, I know it comes off with a dilute vinegar mix but it's still a pain to get them clean.

I'd rather have the blue than a pile of rotted toms any day :frown:

I agree, but the thing with blight of toms, is that once it starts the whole crop is threatened.

I hate copper sprays also, but its the lesser of two evils and only spray at the very first sign.

In fact, after the last two weeks weather I was virtually 100% certain I would see signs by this weekend, and I did.

Don't you have the colourless version over there, JWK? They sell both here, although I've not found it very effective against any fungal disease. Perhaps need to spray earlier....
I've just lost the whole crop of outdoor toms.

Yup, but still ... nothing sprayed onto my crops unless catastrophe looms (and even then I might sacrifice the crop)

I didn't know it came in anything other than blue, I assumed the blue was due to the copper content. At least being blue gives us a chance to check that the fruit are totally clean, I don't like the idea of consuming it.

Someone's probably going to post on here that it's good for you :)

I think why i don't get blight is that there is no one else growing spuds or tom any where near me, being so remote- out of interest how far will it travel?

Neah, you want the copper on the outside of your tomatoes, not the inside!
