I always get blisters from too much use of scissors, tearing the skin off my fingers and then it's really difficult to find another position to hold them in to carry on using. As I'll use a trowel to plant hundreds of cell tray grown plants at a go, I've discovered that the ones with rubber handles with a curved end don't bore a hole into the palm of my hand like wooden handled ones do, especially those with flat ends.

My Mum used to have that effect on me.

White spirit and meths are two very different substances.

If you can still get it surgical spirit might be best.

Novice gardener here - but one of the first things that I've discovered for myself is 'not to wear gardening gloves while using small hand-tools', I've had some right corker blisters. Especially on inside of right thumb between it and the first finger .

Now, I just keep them for picking up debris from the ground and handling anything prickly/stingy/poisonous.

I have blisters on my hands from since I was 16 from plastering, they just turn to scars after awhile and don't really blister anymore.
