Looking good BM, pity the Washy got hit but it is recovering well. Like everyone else I'm hoping Feb isn't going to throw anything nasty at us.

My nanas have made a bit of new growth as well BM, its encouraging to see as they appeared dead a few weeks back.
Mine are in a quite exposed position, open to north and east winds when they occur, also a long way from the house or any tree cover, so even the slightest of frosts catch them.

Looking good BM even in winter your plot looks marvelous!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that the next month or so doesn't turn nasty for you as I would hate for your lovely plants to suffer and also your little monkeys must have their jungle to play in! :D

No I don't think its mate. My siki's struggle TBH, I don't know how petes are doing but the smallest of mine is mush. Even the largest siki has had a bit of insect trouble. Its been nibbled and the wind yesterday snapped the trunk. :(

I will take a picture of the gunnera as they are back up already. Also the t-rex has awoken and is putting up its first leaf

    I heard my name!

I'm not sure what red tiger is, is it maurelii?
I'm overwintering one in a pot in a cold garage, it looks good at the moment, just a little greenfly problem.
It is bone dry, and only the slightest of watering on mild days.
As to sikki, well I have one stem on a young plant still alive I think, I dont have any older stems as my big one flowered last summer.
Another young stem is in the garage, bone dry again, but showing green leaf.

Pete, I think its a strain of Musa Siki. How it differs I am not sure? I wouldn't describe it as fully UK hardy though, which it is often sold as.

Red Tiger is a strain of sikki?
I assume its a good red one then.
If its sikki it should survive undercover, a bit risky outside though.
Its always best, I find, not to risk a plant outside unless you can afford to lose it.
In other words get a cutting established in a pot to overwinter before planting out the parent.
Probably common sense I suppose. [IMG]

My banana is doing absolutely dandy down here in the south east, ok, I cheated and it took pride of place in the front room. The good news is the kids can't wait until Summer so they can see the TV again hehehehehe.

Thanks mate.Yea i put in in the shed as i had it give me back end of last year' as it was to late to plant out.But as i said it's turned to much.I have a pic of it ill dig it out and post it.Like you pete i have a maurelli in my garage doing ok.It's strange cos when i dig it up i thought i'll carry on growing it in the house only to find that the leav's started to come out smaller than the last one!.I hope this is due to a lack of light factor and not the srangles. What's you oppinion on this guys please? Thanks stue/pete the nana gurues lol.
