Yes, the paddle can sometimes stay in the tin, but in my experience, it normally comes out with the loaf. I think it depends if the paddle rises up the spindle at all, during the proving process? Either way, nothing to be alarmed about, and it is easy to get the paddle out without having to hack the loaf to get to it (I found a meat skewer easier to use than the tool supplied).

    Enjoy your baking!

I have a job to get mine off the pan :snork:

I usually have to let it soak a little before I can get it out to clean...

Sorry missed the replies.. it hasn't got stuck since! The 2 times I've tried to make a large loaf its been a bit of a flop and too wet, the medium loaf is great every time. Tried a crusty loaf mix, the crust didn't cook but no biggie took that bit off and had a crustless loaf. Also tried the "jam", its more like a strawberry compote/sauce and I put bit too much cinnamon in.. but still good. Made a cake last night, I always weigh eggs so adjusted the breadmaker recipe to mine and used glace cherries instead of mixed fruit, came out a little dense and the cherries got mushed to nothing and turned the cake a dark colour, still tastes good though. Might have a go at making granary in a bit.. any tips for that please?

Our bread machine makes great jam, in our experience. But sometimes with wet fruit, we need to cook the fruit on the stove first, to reduce it a little. And then add the sugar when you move it to the bread machine (do the measuring for fruit / sugar as if you are making jelly). HTH

Sorry to just be catching up now... I use soy milk powder. It is 25% of the cost of regular milk powders and does the same job. I buy it at the Bulk Barn. I've heard you have the same style shops-full of bins of bulk products which are mostly dry goods?

Love all of your loaves. Bet they yaste great :)

Thank you @CanadianLori I've bought quite a big tub of milk powder, should do me for now but I'll try soy next time. Could do with bigger bags of flour though, not sure where to get them, biggest I've seen is 2kg in local shops. We have a Makro place nearby, think it's like your Bulk Barn, but I'd need a trade card I think

And soy helps those who sometimes get hot flashes ;)

I always take my dough and shape and bake but if you want to avoid paddle worries simply pull the dough out once the pummeling stops, take the paddle out and put the dough back in. It's pretty obvious when to do it, at least my macines are silent after that point.. :)

Our bulk stores are open to everyone however I am fortunate that our markets occasionally have 10 kilo bags of white flour on offer for about £4. And when they do, I stock up. Got 4 bags in my stock now. :)

You'll probably start noticing the good deals now that you have the machine :)

Yeah I think so too, the 2kg bag was around 2 quid odd! :thud: I'll have a go at the dough function and try a granary bake in the oven tonight and see how it goes :blue thumb:

                                No is the correct assumption.

Bread demands patience... until it's time to eat it :)
