      Theresa,let’s call it a day
And from Brussels just walk away.
      Flogging a dead horse
      Brings only remorse.
      And unnecessary delay.

Personally, I blame you, Scrungee, as you could have given the EU some of those vouchers and got us a good deal to get out.:dunno::whistle::heehee:

Well; that's one viewpoint! A fairly common one from a certain generation, perhaps, which is why the demographic of the referendum was so markedly divided by age group. If we're going to hark back to centuries-old grievances, God help the younger generations who would perhaps like to move forward and construct mutually beneficial relationships with other countries in a positive way. It's in nobody's interest for any EU member countries to want to penalise the UK. On the other hand, they're not going to accept the arrogant demands of a member that wants to quit the union but expects to retain most of the benefits that membership confers.

That's certainly one way of viewing events :-) As our local council in UK told it's residents (en masse) in one memorable communication....." Your perception of the situation is incorrect". No ifs, buts or maybes. Our perception of a situation that we lived with on a daily basis was deemed by the powers-that-were to be invalid. Long live democracy, eh? I would humbly propose another viewpoint. Perhaps the governments of recent years have very successfully foisted off the results of their dishonesty and mismanagement onto the convenient scapegoat of the EU.

Must admit, I've always wondered what the benefits are?
That is a sensible question, I think, and needs to be weighed up bearing in mind the continual restrictions, that seem to get tighter all the time.
So, other than trade, and free movement for those that want it, what is there that makes belonging to the EU so wonderful, other than if your not in, we dont want to know you.

I just dont understand why, whilst inviting most of the world to come and live in Europe, (Merkel to all and sundry, without asking other EU countries).
Once those people get into Germany they can go where ever they like, Germany has no right to open the door to people from other countries.
And that is just one thing where I think the EU freedom of movement is basically wrong.

So yes, My view is Germany runs the show, does what it likes, makes its own rules up as it goes along, France agrees to everything and just ignores the rules when they dont fit their agenda.
All the others just tow the line and take the money, barring a very few.
