When you go in, you have to either have their sticker in your windscreen, or they ask to see ID showing your address.

Sad day when you have to show ID to dispose of waste in a legal and responsible manner

We have to travel 15 miles and there is a local one which is only 3 miles away

Local one use ANPR  so you have to keep changing your number plates to go in (joking :snorky:)

Well never heard of that before.
In my opinion a lot of fly tipping would not happen if they just made it simpler for people to dispose of waste properly.
Like maybe even just having longer hours to use the local tip, mine closes at 4pm.
Its open weekends but they queue outside the gate 30 minutes before it opens in the morning, go at midday and you might as well say that will be all you will get done for the rest of that day.

Its pretty diabolical, they just dont make allowances for the amount of people living in the area, along with all the new housing they keep cramming in.

Neither have we. We have two tips in towns about seven miles from us. Each one is in a different county. There is no check on the gate so we use the most convenient. Our own local authority has a tip in it's main town that is 20 miles from us.

When our local authority said they would start charging for green waste by selling us the only bags they would take away I warned them that it would not work. The scheme lasted six weeks after they had to spend a lot of money clearing the green waste from the grass verges (which is what I said would happen). We reverted to a free green wheelie bin every week (we have a licence for two bins after an inspection showing we do more recycling than most others).

My recycling centre is now 8 miles away on the far side of town . So I use the West Lancashire centre about 4 miles from me. They don't check ID. You do need a special permit to get rid off building rubble for some obscure reason . So you have to throw it in the general waste tip - achieving more land fill !

Maybe it is just a Surrey thing then, but every year you get a different wee sticker for your car and if you don't have one, then ID is needed. They even charge a fiver a bag for soil, hardcore, rubble etc.

Had to smile at this one  - I may have told this tale before - the local Police did some spot checks using ANPR and pulled over 2 white vans with identical number plates :nonofinger::loll:.

Central control - I think that makes you a trotsky! Hail Comrade FC :heehee:

Never! Whilst it churns out a lot of garbage when the Beeb gets it right it is the best in the world. And we still get ad-free radio too.

Yup, quite often by those who have no right to make them :snorky:

As an apprentice I sent out two brand new Mercs which each had one reg no on the front and a different one on the back!

I have had a dose of the trotskys once in a while - I find the tablets help stop it

Aye, that is a fair point - much as they annoy me at times (especially when they preach at us), the BBC do have their merits

True, but I remain unconvinced that it couldn't be made at least as secure as the paper vote, and the benefits of doing so would mean more people would be likely to vote, more environmentally friendly than ink, paper and people travelling to polling stations, and there could be a longer period to accommodate as many people as possible. Oh, and it would mean that some school kids wouldn't lose out on a days education. It is very easy to make excuses why we can't do something, but it is much more productive to make a change.

A friend of mine bought an F-reg Renault 19 brand new, and a few weeks after collecting it, he saw a Fiat running around town with the same registration number; turned out that the registration had been issued twice and his had to be re-registered and given a different registration number; he got quite a lot of freebies over the hear
