Ahh, I can see where the confusion has come in. Let me rephrase, I think it had a huge influence on the outcome of the vote. Given the margin of victory, it wouldn’t have taken much to swing it. The margin was around 1.3m, which means a swing of 650,000 the other way would have meant a different result, yes? In my mind, it’s not hard to imagine that one in a hundred simply don’t like foreigners. In my extended family, I’ve experienced folks expressing views that were discriminatory, indeed my own mother used to refer to “darkies”. When I was at work, I witnessed racist/xenophobic remarks and attitudes. I do think we’ve come a long way when it comes to relative laws and enforcement, but there’s still a long way to go when it comes to acceptance, imo.

You think that racism had a huge influence on the vote?

So are you telling me that you have never seen or heard of racism, xenophobic remarks and attitudes from the remain side?

Attitudes have changed (thankfully) a lot over the years, and we do live in very different times - my own father was a bigoted wife-beater who hated 'effing foreigners' to the point that anything with garlic in it was foreign muck. I am not my father, any more than you are yours or your mother, and terms such as those you refer to have absolutely no place in our society.

However, to claim that racism played a significant part in the leave vote us nothing short of bull. There is as much prejudice on the remain side as there is on the leave side - - the Labour party seems to be wholly consumed by anti-semitism for a start, and then there is the statement made by one Mr Bray when he was arrested this week "you should know better, you're an immigrant" - - Mr Stop Brexit himself.

To tar one side or the other with that brush is simply not fair nor representative.

The really sad thing is that it is pot-shots like blaming racism for Brexit that have driven a wedge right up the middle of this country, and that is exactly what those cretins in the EU commission wanted to happen - divide us up, make us fight until they could bully us into voting again (and again) - yet at the same time they won't admit what is just around the corner when the Lisbon Treaty really comes into full effect.

I voted out because of how we are financing countries that REFUSE to be self sustaining.

WOO. Not certain but. I think it's 11 judges that sit at the Supreme court.

To my knowlege the deciding principle of British law is. The final verdict must be proven beyond all reasonable doubt. A final verdict cannot be...In the courts opinion.

Relating to whetherornot the PM lied to HM. I don't know, but I would assume the meeting between HM and the PM has been recorded. Honestly! could you imagin HM addmitting she'd been duped.

Other views are available :) I think that's the gist of what I was trying to get across. Respect for the possibility that an opposing view might have some validity, and that everyone is entitled to hold an opposing view!. So I really shouldn't have dismissed a recent post by another member :mute:
However, my view (limited, obviously, because I don't follow the developments closely and have no faith whatsoever in the impartiality of the UK media), is that 1) UK politicians and solely them are responsible for the shambles that withdrawal has become. 2) The EU has been fair but firm in it's handling of the negotiations. Why on earth should they make huge concessions to a country that is opting out? Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree, I hope amicably :) The biggest tragedy resulting from the whole business is the division and bitterness it has caused within families and friendships. There is a similar situation here in my village going back to WW2 and the subsequent differences over politics. Whole families carrying on feuds to the nth generation. It's very sad.

Who knows? But one thing's for sure, it'll be a lot more 'uncomfortable' for Joe Public suffering the collateral damage than it will for the two-faced politicians who have been squirreling away their assets since the result of the referendum, or who stand to make a fortune on the speculation.

                              I'll try :)

The Dominican Republic and Haiti have an open border. Although they have two border posts they don't stop anyone crossing and there is no actual physical border anywhere along the map border. Anyone can walk across at any point. There is actually a highway that runs along most of the border with no barrier either side.

The border is in people's minds as it is racial and religious.

I have to agree with the vast bulk of everything here, with the exception of point 2 - the EU has been devious and bullying, and have done everything they can to cause or widen the rift within this country; Guy Verhofstadt being one of the worst, but not the only one, doing so directly on social media.

Whilst I can accept to some degree, the argument that we are the ones leaving and why should they give us concessions, the short answer to that is the fact that we have given them and other member countries huge concessions (writing Germany's reparation debts for a start) as well as being a net contributor for years and years. Throughout negotiations it has all been about what we owe and our divorce payment etc, but nothing about what we are owed by the EU.

I respect that the £39bn was partly toward things like healthcare costs and pensions, and that I have no issue with - however I am not convinced that it needs to be in a lump sum on that basis, as it will not be paid out all at once.
