Things are looking slightly more optimistic that Boris can reach some sort of agreement with Leo Varadkar after they consumed a barrel of Guiness each.

I don't know if it was a co-incidence, but after it was touted in the News Media that Hungary might be inclined to veto any agreement so forcing a hard Brexit to support Boris, the BBC aired a program about Hungary saying it depended on Russia for gas energy, and other increasing support. It didn't say directly that Hungary might be inclined to stick it's finger into Brexit because Russia want's the UK to leave the EU and cause disharmony within the EU........which is a bit late as there's been a lot of that around for over the last 3 years.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Well, there has been a reaction to the slippery little git Bercow negotiating with the EU leaders when not authorised to do so..... (treason, by any other name!)

This is quite a detailed complaint (from Twitter)

Unfortunately, Fat Controller, it carries no weight, even though it all might be true, as it's not from a organisation/person of any authority, and is further undermined as it comes from Twitter which hasn't got the best of reputations:dunno:

Accepted, but in the current climate even when even the BBC cannot be held up as paragons of unbiased information, any source has some merit - whether we choose to believe what is there in full or in part, is up to us.

I know one thing for sure, Bercow has been in negotiation with the EU, and that is outwith his remit.

Agreed, and I have no liking for Bercow, but he has no negotiating power or political pull to affect, promise, or agree anything with the EU other than he will retire when a General Election arrives.:dunno: I think it's universally acknowledged that Bercow bent the Speakers powers to give the Remainer politicians in Parliament more ability to bring in legislation that would try to stop BREXIT. But he can't take part in any negotiations and/or meetings between Boris's team and the EU negotiators.........he's merely a distraction and a focus of our dislike for the man, but no more.

Yeah but what is going on behind the scenes, that is the real world, I still say it's all a plot between the EU and some of the remain MPs, And Bercow would be involved if he possibly could be.

Have you guys not seen the video of the EU official stating on record that he had been in negotiation with Bercow?

The PM and his or her team are the ones that should be conducting any and all negotiations and discussions with other countries representative - NOT the speaker of the HOC. His act is treasonous.

To do what?:dunno: A rebellion to take over Parliament/, to put a Micky Fin in Boris's Beer?, change the colour of the toilet rolls used in the toilets?, be backed by the EU to run for Prime Minister? He's a little man with an inflated ego and sense of importance, due to retire in a month or so's time on a very good pension at our expense, but he's got no power to negotiate with anyone, not even the EU's cleaners.

He hasn't, but he did. However he is clearly biased and allows that bias to colour the decisions he takes in HOC. Waiting for him to retire is not acceptable - he should be on gardening leave, with immediate effect.

I work in a department that deals with business sensitive information, and my decisions can influence how the business goes ahead (to some degree) - if I were to resign my post, I would be on gardening leave until my end date, lest I take sensitive information to competitors or do something that could adversely affect the business. Why should Bercow be allowed to continue in such a critical position?

But he's not got any powers to do anything other than chair debates:dunno:...........his powers are limited to choosing what questions are put forward in Parliament which obviously gives the Remainers a lot of leeway in putting forward proposals. Don't give the man any powers that he hasn't got. He's, despite taking sides with the Remainers, got a lot of enemies (even among the Remainers) who conspired and attempted to get rid of him over the past years and he knows it. I dislike the man intensely but I'll settle for seeing the back of him when we get a General Election. He's just not worth getting stressed out over :cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I'm not one for social media, as far as I am concerned, they are dangerous places.

However returning back to the letter by the barrister. My thoughts are. 'Leaks....Fishing etc' OK it's something of a known fact, the speaker of the house is far from popular, that letter has now bought the whole matter out into the public domain..'Leak'. Now the 'Fishing' begins. The author may not be in a position do do much but perhaps now, a member of the HOC might consider grabbing the opportunity to do something. A bite...hooked something.

Despite Bercow leaving soon, I dare say, proceedings could be taken against him along the lines of his actions when in public office. Who knows?

Irrespective of whther Bercow has the authority, it seems that the EU is still engaging with him... So that should have set off alarm bells all over the place. He's a sneaky little b*****d that will bring down the government for his own ends if he possibly can and be damned to his remit or bounds of rules, conventions and associated requirements. It seems openly obvious and clear that the EU are willing to let it happen
