Well, well...what a surprise...Jezza will vote against the deal. He's been taken in entirely by the BoJo plan.

Jez just says the opposite of Bojo and thinks he's being a leader. He'll be gone soon.

Keir Starmer (why do I always want to say Herr Starmer?!) is crying about the deal - they didn't do what Labour (he) wanted so they're not supporting it. Big shock. ..."It paves the way for a decade of deregulation. It gives Johnson licence to slash workers’ rights, environmental standards and consumer protections"... Well, another big shock for you Keir, that's going to happen in any event should we ever get round to leaving the EU. It was kind of the entire point except that its not 'slashing' workers rights or environmental standards, it's about setting our own.

What's bugging me is the constant whining from rebel or whatever MPs saying 'were going to vote on such and such or we're launching this bid!' but then they don't because no-one's really that interested and they don;t want to lose whatever it is they wanted to sound off about. The absolute worst wishy washy politics

I have a feeling that Boris knows all this, and knows that they won't vote for it. Only, he won't have to write that letter asking for an extension now, because he has come back with a deal - - a right stinker of one, but a deal. Plus old alco-Junker himself has said that the EU won't allow any extension.

I have a feeling that the EU will be thinking they have been smart offering such a cruddy deal that it will be voted down and then the British public will be scared witless of a no deal situation and will then vote to remain, whereas the opposite is likely to happen in reality - yes, the deal will get voted down and we are destined for the polls, but I think the remain parties will get royally beaten by parties who are making it clear that they are going out without a deal.

Is it that bad a deal, I dont know?

But hopefully the R soles will want to get away on Saturday and vote for it anyway, The DUP are just not going to go along with anything.

What i've heard of it, and it's not much, but it sounds like N. Ireland will get the best of both worlds, in the EU but in the UK customs.

I really dont care what the 1.8 million want, in fact they don't themselves, and cant even keep their own government going due to squabbling about silly issues.
But then we are in an age where silly issues out rank the big ones, for some reason.

Johners has always said that he will write the letter AND get us out on the 31st. Interesting times ahead.

Well, in this deal we're free of the Backstop, which the EU said was none negotiable. The DUP saying it won't vote for the deal, but what matters is whether they Abstain or Vote against. If they vote against it will add 10 votes to those voting against, but if they Abstain then their votes won't count which will makes it 10 votes easier for Boris.
We won't know if we have a cruddy deal or not until we exit the EU on the 31st October as the real negoiations on trade, etc, will take place during the 2 year transit period. But being free to trade with whom we like, being able to make our own security decisions, legislate our our laws is a prize worth having.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Oh come on now, he's a politician, they say all kinds of things then do something else.

I wouldn't trust any of the two faced bar**ards as far as I could throw them, and that goes for both sides.

I honestly don't know how the relationship between MP & constituent works. For instance. An MP constituents made it clear some three years ago, they wanted out. So in the House, the MP irrespective of his/her personal choice, speaks on behalf of his/her voters. Now we witness MP's standing down, getting the push and this ongoing rift even within their own party. Has it now come to the fact that many MP's are voting, their way, rather than the desired way their constituents have wanted for the past three years. No way am I suggesting another referrendum. The British people made their point.

Another thing I don't understand is. It seems to suggest that whatever way and under whatever conditions we leave. The EU will still have certain controls over us. Why?

                      We need a General Election.

We need to get in a government that is truly willing to reform our politics for once and for all - the House of Lords needs to go as it is simply a cost to the taxpayer, and a bunch of un-elected has-beens that are making decisions that deeply affect our country. Governments and elected MP's should be elected on a contractual basis - if they don't deliver what they said they would, there are sanctions. Councils and councillors should be the same. If we are going to have public services (as we all do), then there should be a standard agreed for that service and that service applies across the whole country, and things like waste/recycling, road maintenance, water, drainage/sewerage etc should be government/council operated.

There was an old science fiction short story (trying to remember the name ) where all parliamentary representatives had to wear a special collar which held a small amount of explosives. All the voters in the constituency had a button that they could press if they didn't like the way they were being represented. If more than a certain percentage pressed the 'don't like' button the explosive went off!

Little toady that he is... He engages with the masses publicly about once a year. Recently turned up to a football award ceremony, having done nothing toward it, just to get his picture taken. Can see nothing he has accomplished but you never know, perhaps he operates to great effect [invisible effect]

Brexit: Latest as Boris Johnson tries to get MPs behind his deal - BBC News
Civil rights campaigners lose Brexit legal bid

Court of Appeal judges have rejected a bid by civil rights campaigners for an urgent hearing of their case against Prime Minister Boris Johnson over Brexit.

The group, Liberty, brought the case in an attempt to ensure the government complied with the Benn Act - the law passed by MPs last month preventing a no-deal Brexit on 31 October.

Lord Burnett says the judges will give full reasons for their decision in writing at a later date.
