Brexit -am I stupid or what

I dont think anyone gets what they want regarding Brexit.
And I said that right after that "person" from the Lords got the ruling that Parliament should get the final say, from that day on it was bound to fail.

 

I’m just a numpty, so please bear with me.
Before the vote, lots of people ‘in the street’, who said they would vote leave, gave lots of different reasons why they would do so. Some stated they wanted to keep the foreigners out, others stated they didn’t want to keep paying in, others stated they didn’t want to be ruled by Brussels, etc etc, fair enough. Seems to me, that Mays deal pretty much fulfills those wishes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not promoting it, just saying. Since the vote, it seems like the interpretations of what Brexit actually means is the real problem, everyone has their ‘take’ on it. Labour’s stance on this has been dreadful, they will vote against anything, along with the SNP. That just leaves the Tories, who have a tail trying to wag the dog. To me, the only way to get this sorted, is for a referendum, but not what you’re thinking. One which gives two choices, Mays deal or no deal. Probably too late now anyway.

 

Out of interest, what does JRM actually want, and would the EU actually agree to it?

 

Safe to assume then that you don’t agree with his vision of Brexit then, whatever that is?

 

Worse - one woman was interviewed after and said she voted leave because she didn't think that they could win! And she was actually being serious

Personally I don't agree with this miserable excuse for evolution being allowed to waste perfectly good oxygen in his respiratory system!!

Seems to me the whole world is in a mess. However, returning to the topic, are you in favour of Mays deal?

 

I remember one person (of Indian origin) was confronted by an apparent Brexiter, saying, “we voted leave, what are you still doing here?”....

 

I honestly believe that no-one thought the Leave vote would win. Cameron didn't. He only held the referendum to shut up the anti-EU faction in his party. And when it ended up in such a tight vote, he ran away. It was just hubris followed by fear.

Then May took over. Hubris lead her to call a completely unnecessary General Election that bit her in the arse big time. Since then it's been an utter mess.

I think a lot of people who voted Leave did so for different reasons, not believing it would happen. A lot of people didn't bother to vote cos they didn't think for one minute Leave would win. And I think, and it's just my opinion, that a new referendum would get out a lot of the people who didn't vote in the first one to vote Remain.

 

Sadly I'm not even surprised by that.

I actually took it seriously and moved some units of a managed fund that I have into a "Referendum Gamble" unit that they opened up. You could put in as much or as little as you wanted and dictate the currency(s) and the point at which to sell as well. All that happened was in the run up to the vote you shifted your unit(s) and they bought and held foreign currency and then at the point that you had opted to sell it was converted back to Sterling. I was conservative and could have made more but it was still a good return.
