    Definitely a farce!
The government could have had preliminary EU talks prior to the referendum to at least sketch out what the future state would be and the path to getting there. It would have made the EU aware that the UK was serious (I don't believe the EU or the government ever saw the vote going the way it did) and everyone would have been better prepared. Basically making a bit of a business case so people didn't go in blind which they most certainly did. I don't want a 2nd vote but I do wonder if the vote was held knowing what we know now just what the outcome would be.

Which would have tempted the EU to take a frmer stance pre-referendum in an attempt to influence it?

Possibly. Who knows?! A firmer stance from anyone would have been preferable to the wishy washy approach that was taken almost in jest.

The arrogont git Camoclown) didn't believe that he could lose. It all boils down to that sense of entitlement that is drummed into his kind at places such as Eton.

I believe that it would be very different. The electorate had no idea of the facts or consequences. The brexiteers lied frequently. They did it in big bold letters on their bus about what the EU cost us. They said that that figure was what we could divert to the NHS.
Not once did they say that the EU is about creating strong markets for the benefit of companies in the trading bloc to profit from and create jobs. They said that the decisions in the EU were taken by unelected beaurocrats (a lie that is still held dear by voters even today).
One of the leading brexiteers (David Davis if my memory serves me correctly) said that the UK could just drop import tariffs which was absolute small balls as he well knew. Drop the tariffs yes but in the absense of a deal there is no compulsion for that to be reciprocated. So the argument was that you could just exclude the nations that did not reciprocate - NO! Under WTO rules on most favoured nations if you give concessions outside of a deal to one nation they have to be given to ALL WTO members. This is nothing new, the legislation has been in place since the mid nineties - it is not a secret.
Another example of the lies told was that the UK could just cut and paste the existing EU trade deals for our own deals. Again that was a lie and they knew it. Many EU trade deals have a most preferred partner clause. What that means is that if (for example) Japan signed such a deal it would have to either get EU approval or offer the EU a better deal than the one that the UK had just cut and pasted! Again, not a secret as the UK government was fully involved in the negotiation of these deals as a member of the EU!
As I said in an earlier post, politicians were aware of the Irish border issue. They were in the public domain in about three political blogs that I read dating back pre vote. If I can fix my old laptop I will post the links. Again, none of this was a secret and I guess that in this case it was less of a lie and more of an important ommission.

Clearly the remainers were at fault also. Not so much about lying but more out of complacency. Not once did I hear them say that we need immigrant workers (who are unlikely to pay enough NI contributions to gain a state pension here) to prop up our state pension. They've welcomed them with open arms for this very reason yet were too shy to say why!
Not once did I hear them say that the areas that receive the most EU aid would be most hurt by Brexit yet in their own figures released this week that is exactly the scenario.
Probably 80% of the people I've spoken to still have no idea of what the financial services passport is let alone that the financial services sector pays more into the exchequer than any other sector, including the tax payer!

So no, the British people had no idea what they were voting for other than to get rid of the foreigners!

I was under the impression that the E U would not talk about any thing regarding us leaving until artical 50 was declaired.

Well the more you go into it the more you realise how the EU has tied its members into knots, kind of forming a web from which no member country can be allowed to escape.

My personal thoughts have always been, we shouldn't have joined in the first place, but that is history.
They have been entangling us now for more than 40yrs, so if it takes another couple or so to leave it would not bother me, but I think there must be that final point on the horizon when we actually leave.
Without that the whole farce has been a complete waste of time and energy.

A leaver too....not because I’m an oldie, a racist I’m not) or narrow minded (I’m not) but because I think we would thrive outside the EU. I too feel we won’t be allowed to leave. Our politicians have arrogantly ignored the result of the referendum.
Hey! A second referendum? The result could be the same so then what????

Well, Mrs May lost her vote by 149 votes.

Tomorrow, they vote on whether to leave with no deal - we know that they will vote for that not to happen, so their next move will be to extend and I reckon that it will be an extension to send us back to the polls.

Presumably Parliament think we are all so fed up with the hash the idiots have made of it that we all roll over and settle to stay in, just for a quiet life.
I think we are all fed up with it, but mostly because they have done everything possible to stop it happening.

Parliament has let us down big time. Our politicians think they know best, they think we know nothing. :noidea:
A second referendum could have the same result.....a third referendum???:noidea:

I've just listened to a debate on the radio. Five politicians, five totally different expectations of what will happen.

The country was split, almost in half, at the referendum, the Houses of Parliament seem similarly split. Not only in their own opinion but in their duty to their constituents.
How is this ever going to work......
There is always going to be about half the country unhappy :mute:

Edit, @Fat Controller , just watched your vid, it did make me and hubby giggle:heehee: it's very good.

I would still choose to remain though :sofa:
