But they're talking about there being an override on the limiter - for safety reasons.

I can also see a surge of new car sales before those models come in. As we've just changed our cars and keep them a long time (Mrs Shiney's was 17 years old and mine was 11) it won't affect us.

@Jiffy - this isn't like the limiters you and I are used to on heavies where the vehicle has an upper limit, this is wholly GPS based, so if you are on a road that says 20, then 20 is the max no matter what, and the driver cannot do anything about it. What happens if you are on a 40 road with a wee 20 road running alongside is anyone's guess.

@shiney - I would say that it can be over-ridden to get us to adopt it, then the over-ride will go

I know, but it wouldn't be any good where we live, as it's single track road with 60mph limit (and you would be a fool to drive at that speed ), but would like to see people slow down, we don't walk up the road any more as it's far too dangerous to do so now!!!!!!!! they don't/won't slow down, so i think the limiters will be a start :)

          This is for information purposes.

Indicative votes are where MPs vote on a series of options designed to test the will of Parliament to see what, if anything, commands a majority.

In the case of Brexit, supporters of indicative votes believe it could provide a way out of the current political stalemate.

The Speaker of the House, John Bercow, has chosen eight to be voted on by MPs later this evening.

          They are:

          • No-deal Brexit - Leave the EU on 12 April without a deal - Tory MP John Baron
          • Common Market 2.0 - the UK joins the European Economic Area and negotiates a temporary customs union until alternative arrangements can be found - Tory MP Nick Boles
          • EFTA/EEA - Similar to Common Market 2.0 but rejects any kind of customs union with the EU and says the Irish backstop must be replaced with alternative arrangements - Tory MP George Eustice
          • Customs union - Calls for the UK to negotiate a permanent customs union with the EU after Brexit - Tory MP Ken Clarke
          • Labour's alternative plan - A customs union with the EU and "close alignment" with the single market - Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn
          • Revoke Article 50 - Cancel Brexit if the UK gets within days of leaving without a deal. MPs would be asked to vote on a no-deal exit and if they rejected that, Article 50 would be revoked - SNP MP Joanna Cherry
          • Confirmatory public vote - Parliament cannot ratify or implement any agreement on the UK's withdrawal and future relationship "unless and until they have been approved by the people of the UK in a confirmatory public ballot" - Labour MP Margaret Beckett
          • Malthouse Plan B - The UK makes its budgetary contributions to the EU to the end of 2020 and agrees with the EU a period of two years in which UK goods have full access to the EU - Tory MP Marcus Fysh

That's unfair, MPs get to vote on 8 options, but the electorate only gets a yes/no choice of one option.

Think I'll buy a new second hand motor around 2021, but I'm betting the prices will be sky high then on anything that is driver diveable.
It should give the new car market a short term boost for the next few years, maybe that is the idea, a bit short sighted, but then most of the idiots around making up laws these days are.

So, driverless cars that the passenger is responsible for if there is an accident?
Cars that slow down of their own accord, just because they see a sign, and make a hell of a racket should you dare to intervene?

And Boeing 737 Max which just nose dive out of the sky?

                Isn't technology wonderful.
I cant even log into my car insurance, and they dont give out phone numbers anymore.

As to Bregzit, who gives a monkeys what MPs want, the EU wont go along with it, unless they go for remain.

Well, it would appear that there are other parties within the EU that seem to be somewhat pissed off with their nonsense - - this is a really fantastic watch, and I would strongly suggest that you watch it all the way through (and I am afraid you will need to read the subtitles, unless your German is good). Oh, and can we have politicians like this woman in this country please?

Dr Alice Weidel has hit the nail right on the head! She obviously understands and sympathises with Britain's position and why the EU want to stop us from leaving. I wonder how many have actually listened to what she has said? I think we should leave with or without a deal, remaining now would be a dictatorship!

Regarding speed restrictors....I wonder if that applies to motorcycles too and if it's mechanically possible to restrict them.

The Isle of Man is not part of the EU, although through England as a crown dependency some things have a knock on effect there. It still has unrestricted speed limits in parts of the island ie. driving at 100mph is perfectly legal. Particularly as a biking nation, this is not going to be welcomed unless riders/drivers are able to buy both motorcycles or four wheeled vehicles without the restrictors.

If you hang on a while you may be able to pick up a cheap Ferrari Pete. I bet many top speed sports cars will be sold off, what's the point of owning one if you can't show off in it.

I presume the German autobahns still have no speed limit????
If so, this kind of thing will not bother them.

We are however stuck with a 70mph speed limit on motorways which kind of makes nonsense of our way of driving on them.
If you cant do more than 70 you might as well lane hog, as no one is capable of overtaking you.
Or do we just have a lane for lorries at 56 mph and one for cars at 70 mph, the third one can be a parking place for HGVs waiting for the channel crossing.

Anyone who has used a two lane motorway will know the frustration caused by lorries being limited to 56 mph, and one doining 56.5mph trying to overtake.

It now seems cars will be doing the same thing, we are not that far from total gridlock now, this will just move it that bit sooner.
